First I would like to express how unbelievably disappointed I am and the party who I'm traveling with are. Driving 13+ hours to this establishment isn't something that we decided to do in a day. At the beginning of the year, myself and a few of my close friends, purchased tickets for a festival in the area. After purchasing tickets we made reservations for a nearby hotel for the weekend. Again, at the beginning of this year. So after driving almost 10 hours out of the 13+ hours of our journey, it was not a very pleasant email to receive from your company stating that our reservation had been cancelled. Hours away from reaching our destination and now we don't even have a destination and nowhere to stay. So I called the hotel and asked what the issue was and why our reservation was no longer in good standing. The woman at the front desk was rude, brief and informative, and offensive. Not professional by any means. She proceeded to inform me that the company tried calling me about my booking, so after our conversation I checked my voicemail and didn't have any sort of message or notice that would inform me that I needed to contact them in order to keep the room I had previously reserved. I'm sorry but I didn't pass ESP101 in school and can't read anyone's minds. The appropriate thing to do in this situation would to at the very very least leave a damn voicemail and advise me to contact them and confirm that I still wanted to keep our room and/or a warning email indicating that they poorly attempted to contact me and to reach them in a timely manner in order to not have our room discarded. I'm sure that making our reservation so far in advance and for a significantly lower rate than the rates that are currently available due to the increased population for the activities in the area played a huge role in the actions taken by the staff of this business. Which is completely ridiculous and a very poor way to run a business. I'm a very firm believer that the energy that you put into this world is exactly what you are going to receive from it and luckily for me, being a good person who isn't looking to get ahead in life by causing the downfall of others, found another hotel for an even cheaper rate. Your company and employees should be ashamed of yourselves and I'm sure that whatever negative energy you continue to contribute will benefit you...
Read moreOn our way back home, my husband wanted to stop to see the old car junkyard at White. It had taken some time to get there from Helen, GA, so we didn't arrive until 8pm. The only hotels we saw were the Quality Inn and a Motel 6. Having stayed in Quality Inns in the past, we thought it would be the better choice; and considering the hour, didn't really want to go on to the next town, only to come back the next morning. The woman that checked us in (Kristin?) was very nice, offered a small discount, and apologized that they were unable to get sausage for breakfast, but that we'd have a good selection of hot food. She booked us into a king smoking room. We arrived at the room to find that it stunk really bad, as if it had NEVER been aired out. We opened the door and retrieved air freshener from our car to clear the smell. Not long after we got to the room a large storm began. We tried to turn on the TV to monitor the weather, and the remote fell apart in our hand. Later, when we tried to turn off the TV, it wouldn't turn off - using the TV power buttons or the remote - so husband had to unplug it. We tried the bedside lights and clock, only to find they were all unplugged. Went to plug them in and discovered they looked worse than cords plugged in our shop for 10 years. Floor was sticky with some substance, lampshades and walls were stained, mold on the shower curtain and tub, countertop separating from the wall and sink, shelf hung crooked, holes in the doors and scrapes on walls. Had it not been so late, with a storm in the area, we should have left and sought other accommodations. Only thing I can say good is that the sheets appeared to be clean and the mattress was comfortable (or maybe we were just that tired). Next morning, breakfast was a dismal affair, very little to eat that wasn't a pre-packaged item - only "hot" item was toast. I complained to the desk clerk - telling her that the hotel was in such bad shape it really needed to be closed for a complete refurbishment, but she was unconcerned and offered no remedy. I contacted Choice Hotels, but they were unable to do anything about it, only offering some points for a future stay at another hotel. The hotel is in very poor shape - needing updates and serious cleaning! You won't be happy staying there. Go down the road a bit and try...
Read moreWe had a 2 night reservation and the issues started from the minute we walked in the door! We initially passed over the Clarion Inn down the street and chose this Quality Inn instead, all because of the price. What a mistake! Upon arrival at the Quality Inn, we were met with undeserved attitude, which progressively worsened when she got our reservation wrong and I had to correct her. Other issues: A roach landed on my thigh as I was laying in bed, spiders on both sides of the doorway, various flying/crawling insects in our room throughout our stay (we ended up having to ask for our room to be sprayed for bugs), a crumbling concrete-looking stair at the very top of the 2nd story steps, a bedspread so worn in places that I first thought it had stains on it, I could go on and on. We ended up leaving early; I just couldn't stand it. Then our credit card bill reflected an additional night's charge and when I called to ask about it, instead of trying to work it out, I was met with INSTANT defensiveness (by the same person who was rude to us when we checked in), and complete denial, even though I was looking at my credit card information online. I am happy to say that it was finally corrected, but not without some hassle. The other staff members we encountered we very nice, so I can't rate "Poor" on staff as that's not fair to them. However, since the employee we encountered seems to be there most of the time, that...
