Cute motel, clean, well-maintained, and a cool throwback to the 1950s. I enjoyed my stay there in 2017. I cannot, however, recommend that you stay in the Cascade Motel unless you are prepared to deal with management whose tolerance for error (human, computer, or a combination of both: I'm unable to say for sure) appears to approach zero.
I attempted to make an online reservation a few days ago for a date approximately three weeks in the future. Some glitch along the line caused the date field on the form to revert to the default, which is (logically enough) the day a reservation is made. This error was caught within half an hour, before noon, on the same day it occured. The person I talked to first said she would make the necessary change in the date. But she checked with the manager, or possibly the owner, and called me back to say that the date change would not be allowed, and that my mistaken same-day registration would be treated as a no-show and charged the full amount of an overnight stay. Management insisted that my request to correct an accidental reversion to the default date on the online form counted as a cancellation within their 7-day cancellation policy. Never mind that the mistake was caught almost immediately; never mind that there was only negligible interference in their ability to rent the unit to someone else (it was tied up for all of 29 minutes, in the morning); never mind that I wasn't actually cancelling the reservation, just trying to change it to the date I had originally intended to make it for, which was well outside their no-cancellation period. Never mind that they admitted their online reservation system was new and the kinks were still being worked out. Sorry, over, and out.
I emailed them, that evening and again the next evening, suggesting politely that we might still work something out. Neither email was answered. I waited through the weekend before posting this review to see if they were actually going to follow through with the charge. Today, I checked my VISA account, and the charge was there. It's the last money they will get from me; despite its many charms, I will never go near the place again. Those who are reading this should consider...
Read moreThis little place was outstanding from booking to checking in to checking out. I love little stand alone independent hotels and motels. Especially when they are amazing as this place. The website was very easy to use, all of the rooms are a little different but explained perfectly. ||We received a phone call the day of our arrival advising our room was ready early, which was a nice touch. Check in was easy and the gal working was so pleasant and friendly, she even walked us down to our room and told us about the amenities and answered any questions we had.||The grounds are very clean and they had a nice firepit, cornhole, and even a a bbq and cute little picnic table we played cards at in the evening (we would have loved to have a light or lantern to use once the sun started setting so we could keep playing our game).||It is an easy walk in to town which was nice so we could enjoy some beers at the local brewery.||Our room was very clean and updated. Our bed was comfortable and the ac worked great. Water pressure was outstanding in the shower as well. We loved the coffee and creamer choices in the room as well.||You can tell that the owners love this property and maintain it wonderfully. The roof looked new as did the paint.||Overall an excellent choice if you are coming through the area. The prices were reasonable for what we received. They even let us check out...
Read moreUnfortunately, our stay was terrible. The room itself and property was fine, but the person before us had sprayed so much cologne (think half a bottle not a couple of squirts) that they probably should have been charged a fee as well as airing the room out for a day. We arrived at about noon, the manager even noted the overpowering smell, we opened all the windows but when we returned at 7 pm the smell was still so incredibly overwhelming. We were there for a race the next day so the entire town had been sold out for months eliminating any other options for us to stay. They did switched out a pillow, took the bedding and gave us a fan that we had to balance on the toilette to assist, but it was so strong, it even stayed on our clothes when we came home. When I talked to the owner the next day and requested half my money back (we did have to stay in the room and I wanted to cover the cost of cleaning the sheets, etc.) he told us people "have smells" and we could have just stayed somewhere else. When I reminded him the entire town was sold out, he told me I could have gone to another town. Also, as we had to use my sons story book to prop the bathroom window open we forgot it of course so now he is down one story book (they refused to mail it). It was our fault for forgetting but we shouldn't have had to prop a window open to begin...
