If you're looking for an amazing water activity look no further! Heart of the Gorge Sailing was one of the best experiences I had during my visit to Portland. It was my daughter and my first time sailing and boy was it memorable! We sailed the beautiful Columbia River at sunset with our yacht captains Chennie and Preston. Chennie prepared a wonderful charcuterie board for us with fresh smoked salmon. As Chennie steered, Preston hoisted the sails and pointed out historical landmarks on the river and their importance to the area. They both proved to be experienced sailors that made us feel safe and at easy on their yacht. We had such a blast my daughter wants to go to sailing camp now!

Unfortunately, after our sailing experience ended, I realized that Uber did not service pick up for the area; leaving my daughter and myself essentially stranded. These beautiful souls Chennie and Preston didn't hesitate to help! They drove us to the next town where we could be picked up by Uber! How kind is that!? Captain Preston and Chennie helped make our intimate wedding an elegant experience. From the moment we booked our event, they were very accommodating and easy to work with. Captain Preston served two roles the day of the event - captain and officiant. He sailed our wedding party to a beautiful spot along the Columbia River and timed the sunset sail against the mountainous backdrop perfectly. He also gave a lovely handwritten speech before facilitating our vow exchange, once we were anchored and had begun our ceremony. Chennie was a very well-organized host and went above and beyond our expectations for providing refreshments aboard the boat for everyone. We had the best time on our sunset sail, which I booked as a surprise during our honeymoon. It was a really hot day but it was much cooler on the water, which made for a perfect sail. I thought that 630pm was going to be too early for sunset but it was timed perfectly!! The crew was really knowledgeable and fun to chat with. Jim and Liz joined us too and they were so lovely and friendly. We were joined by another couple but there was enough space on the boat for each couple to enjoy themselves and have some privacy. The best part was going to the bow and spending some quality time with my new husband. The price was great. Loved the charcuterie board add on. Absolutely stunning views.
