BED BUGS, POT, CIGARETTES, MISREPRESENTATION, AND A COMPLETE REFUSAL TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY.
I resided here for two nights. Look at the pictures below now the evening after I have left. Furthermore, the first night the pot smoke coming into my room and out in the hallway was so thick I hardly could breath. In fact, almost the entire two days every time I went back down the back stairwell near my room I would smell it around the 3rd floor--I was on the 4th. Additionally, every night cigarette fumes came through my bedroom wall. In situations involving this Homewood Suites that cause problems, in addition to pursuing any legal avenues you feel or are advised may be appropriate, file a complaint with the Attorneys General in California, Virginia as Hilton is based in Tysons Corner, Virginia, or even your home state if you are not a California resident and wish to go that route, against both Hilton and this franchisee hotel separately. Eventually the hotel either will be shut down and/or Hilton will be held to account, all the while Hilton being pressured to no longer allow the hotel to receive bookings from Hilton's online booking system and, furthermore, also to no longer do business with this franchisee. In fact, any time something goes wrong at a Hilton franchised hotel, which essentially means all Hilton hotels, you should file with an attorney general at least against Hilton because Hilton's "customer service" effectively just runs interference for Hilton and pushes everything back onto the franchisee hotel even though you probably booked through Hilton and Hilton also obviously directed you to the franchisee. Most often nothing will be rectified substantively by dealing only with Hilton "customer service." More steps must be taken. I also must add that I called the hotel--no one from the hotel or Hilton reached out to me even after being aware of the situation for days--and spoke with General Manager "Michael." He told me the hotel has a "procedure" in which a pest control company is brought in and then prepares a report for effectively the hotel's defense attorney--its insurance company and adjustors--all the while informing the customer of nothing that was found by the pest control company and, apparently, if we are to believe the hotel, also with the hotel itself knowing nothing with regard to the extent of the purported infestation, etc. The hotel is beyond lacking integrity and ethics, and clearly, more or less, deals with all situations similarly to how it has handled this situation. Hilton, as opposed to the franchisee hotel, in dealing with me simply played for time and then circled the wagons with the franchisee hotel, but then it already was a given, as you can see above, where also Hilton's integrity, ethics, and concerns lie. I also should add that the manager "Michael" responded to my similar review on Reservations.com, but that does not allow for the reviewer to add anything after the initial review. Google, which does, Michael did not respond to. In Michael's response he states that he would be "happy to discuss the matter with me," neglecting to mention that indeed we did talk by phone and he refused to provide any information related to what his "impartial third-party pest control company" as he phrases it, found. Additionally, he makes irrelevant statements intended to obfuscate such as "We have designated smoking areas," travelers are usually the ones who bring the bed bugs to hotels, and the borderline ludicrous statement that his housekeeping staff checks every room every day for bedbugs. Furthermore, he said he passed the matter on to to their insurance company as a claim, but never provided a claim number nor was I ever contacted by the purported insurance company. Among other things that come to mind among many, I am left wondering why he would have needed to have his "impartial third-party pest control" company come in if his housekeeping could already have provided him...
Read moreMy recent stay at the Homewood Suites was overall pleasant, but there were a few areas where improvements could be made.
Starting with the positives, the exterior and grounds of the hotel are well-maintained and appealing. A standout feature is the huge dog park, which is perfect for guests traveling with pets. The room itself was nice and included a small kitchen with all the necessary utensils, including silverware, pots, and pans. This was a convenient addition, especially for those looking to prepare their own meals. The room was clean and comfortable, making it a great option for a short stay.
The hotelâs location is a major plusâitâs super close to downtown Palm Springs, making it an excellent spot if youâre planning to visit the local bars or attractions. I found that Lyft rides didnât cost much, which made getting around easy and affordable.
However, there were a few drawbacks. The breakfast offered was decent, but the dining area was a bit warm due to the air conditioning not being quite cold enough. Additionally, the lack of an ice machine in the dining was inconvenient, and the apple juice dispenser produced warm juice, which was a bit disappointing. I had to keep bothering the staff in the kitchen for cups of ice.
The bathroom in my room was basic and functional, though not particularly glamorous. This hotel seems more focused on practicality than luxury, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but something to keep in mind depending on your expectations.
A few other things stood out during my stay. I was surprised that they did not offer digital keys, which Iâve come to expect from other Hilton properties. Especially since this is a recently converted Hilton property. Also, the $10 charge for parking seemed unnecessary, especially considering the lot is huge and I did not notice any security patrolling the area.
Finally, there was an unusual experience at check-in. The process was slowed down because some locals were using an app that allowed them to purchase day passes for the hotel pool. This seemed odd, especially since the hotel was already busy with guests. It would be better if the pool were reserved for hotel guests to avoid any delays or overcrowding.
In summary, Homewood Suites is a clean and practical choice for a one-night stay, particularly if you value having kitchen facilities and proximity to downtown Palm Springs. However, a few improvements, especially in customer service and amenities, could elevate the experience. Itâs a good spot if youâre planning to stay and take a rideshare...
Read moreGreat property with many amenities. Rooms have fully equipped kitchenette including microwave, 2 burner cooktop, fridge/freezer/ice machine and dishwasher (with dishwashing powder supplied). Dishtowels, cloths and pot holders supplied. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms well appointed. Lots of lighting around, but somehow the switches at the entry didnât turn anything on. Nice pool area with screen topped gazebos allow relaxed reading. BBQ area, firepit, picnic tables. One of the best features is the breakfast- until 9:30 weekdays, 10 on weekends. Scrambled eggs, breakfast meat, potatoes. Meat and potatoes change daily to provide variety. Lots of bread, muffins, English muffins, bagels (3 types), toast bread and make your own waffle station with toppings that include syrup, chocolate syrup, low calorie syrup, strawberries, chocolate chips and whipped cream. Two choices of juice, two choices of coffee (regular and ârobustâ), 4 choices of cold cereal, as well as hot oatmeal next to the waffle station. Lots of spreads including cream cheese for the bagels, peanut butter, 2-3 choices of jam, bulk and in individual packets of youâre taking breakfast upstairs to your beloved. Kitchen staff will even heat tortillas if you want to make some breakfast tacos topped with green or red salsa, shredded cheese and sour cream. There are also bottles of Cholula and Tapatio picante. The only drawback is the remote location that is surrounded by a golf course and gated residential. They also charge a $10 parking fee per day. Laundry facilities next to the fitness centre are complimentary, and they sell detergent at the desk. Fitness Centre is small and well appointed with some bikes, treadmills and elliptical trainers, free weights and such. Staff are friendly and helpful- my safe needed a new battery and it was promptly replaced. Shower head is possibly the best Iâve ever used, with various settings, and itsâ force is so strong the light curtain often blows away and the walls at the front and back of the tub show the splash. Shallow tub for those who hate showers. Bulk amenities (pump dispensers) include hand wash, body lotion, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. I was very impressed with the quality and lack of overpowering fragrance. Not far from the airport, but a drive or car share to get to dining, and nightlife. I would probably stay closer to the âStripâ next visit as I enjoy walking to attractions, dining and shopping. If you just want a relaxed getaway and drive, it is ideal for a family as it sleeps 4 with the...
