• Great campground for enjoying nature while still having close access to the city. It's located right across the road from the reservoir/beach with direct access to miles of trails for walking, running, biking, etc. and nice views of the surrounding mountains or grasslands. • Daily park admission is not included with your campsite, it is a separate fee. If you are staying 8+ days, just buy an annual pass. • In addition to the campground fee and park admission fee, there is also a separate Cherry Creek Water Basin daily fee. If you're staying 3+ days, just pay the annual fee. • Campsites are fairly flat with enough room to have some privacy. I believe each one is assigned its own magpie :) Sites are close enough to the road to hear traffic throughout the day. • Paid showers ($1.50 for 5 minutes, credit card only) are available and are cleaned twice a day. • Paid laundry (starting at $1.50 a load, quarters only) is also available. Coin machine is permanently out of service, so you'll need to bring your own and washers/dryers are limited so don't go at checkout time like everyone else unless you want to wait. • Each time we have stayed the campground has been relatively quiet, but it is very popular so I highly recommend booking in advance (especially for longer stays or during...
Read moreA pleasant respite from urban Denver with lush foliage and a wonderfully large reservoir - but local road noise is still apparent for those seeking a true wilderness experience…but overall well worth the trade off! Clean and pleasant campground well maintained by a caring corp of campground hosts. RV sites with full hookups can be obtained via reservation and some loops have large mature trees for shade such as the Cottonwood Grove loop. The Gold Rush loop tends to be more of an open prairie environment with few larger shade trees. The marina will take you to the tropics with a sandy area and a beachside bar…while still in the Rockies. Currently you can’t get from west side to the east side of the park (or vice versa) due to road work being done but a quick hop on the Dam Road will take you there - but you have to leave the park so take your pass with you. Overall - wonderful and...
Read moreBeautiful park, great spaced sites, FHU in most loops. Coyotes, magpie, geese and deer (HUGE deer) seen daily. Walking the loops woth the dogs was great exercise. Hosts were nice.
Neighbors dogs barked constantly the ENTIRE time. Humans could be outside with the dogs, the dogs still didn't shut up (Aussies, not tiny yappy dogs). They also had zero problem with letting the dogs run around the campground, but another man with a GSP didn't see where leash laws and common sense applied to him either.
We have dogs, and I get wanting them to exercise themselves, but walk to a non inhabited part of the park and let them run. Having your dog pee on our stuff, crap in our yard and constantly meet us/our dogs at our door, in our site makes you a jerk. Maybe if rangers patrolled the campgrounds they could get the issue in check? Not a fan and I have no problem yelling...
