Love Cherry Creek Dam, one of the best state parks to visit. I was there an hour before sunset on a Sunday and it was very peaceful. The Smoky Hill Shelters are on the east side or the reservoir just off shore. There are 5 shelters witch equals10 picnic tables one on each side of a shelter kind of like a divider and one double grill. Restrooms are close and I saw electrical outlets. It's been years since I'd been to this area. From this view you can see all the way across the water to the dam wall. The shore was very clean of debris witch is just down from the shelter, would be a nice walk. The mountains look beautiful from this view especially at sunset. The bout ramps and docks are just west up from the shelters. There is also a pull off area about a mile before the shelters heading west to bird watch. That evening there seemed to be thousands of birds eating bugs off the foliage. There's a few placards at the spot explaining the birds to look for and other interesting information.
