We did love the campground. We had booked RV1 and got a really nice neighbor late in the day. We were here for two nights. We came In an hour before check in from California. We patiently sat out the hour without an issue. There is no check in desk. There is a restroom at the entrance. The camp host was not in, but being an hour early, we were not concerned. After three pm, another lady camping in the park said the host will not be in until tomorrow. I don't expect anyone to work or volunteer 7 days a week, but someone should be in if you know a camper is coming in. The lady told us where to find our site. Thanks to the other camper lady. We pulled in to set up and the electric didn't work. Soon a ranger did come by to tell us about the tree fall in the town to the south. Thanks ranger for being there to let us know the issue. Absolutely no cell service to call , so we were grateful she drove by as we were setting up. We had to inform our neighbors when they arrived. We had another camper trailer stop by our site to see if we were the host and explain what they needed to do to find their spot in the tent area. I loved the place and the location to crater lake. I actually would stay here again. They need a check in person on duty at least after 3pm. Hopefully cell service will be available some day. RV site 1-3 are on a dirt road to the left of the big parking lot at the entrance. All other campsites are forward of that parking. Trash is in the big parking lot for RV 1-3. They recycle in the main campsite. There is a check in envelope in the main campsite near the host camper that needs to be filled out to let him know that you are here. For people in the main lots, there is a map posted near the host trailer. I hope this helps...
Read moreHost is an unfriendly, curt rip-off. Wednesday, stopped by and was told by "Mr. Friendly" the firewood was $8 a bundle, already unusually high for 7 or 8 foot long hunks. Went the next day to camp and he now said: "$9". I asked: "Went up a buck overnight, huh?" No reaction. Don't try camping in anything bigger than a Class C motorhome or trailer longer than 10 or so feet. One way loops are very sharp and narrow going between trees. Vehicle parking spots are hardly large enough for a Class C motorhome. Great trout fishing from the creek. One per cast usually. About half big enough for "keepers". You can ignore and not even deal with the rude host by just putting your money in the envelope (checks okay) and bring your own firewood. He'll sell any wood left over so don't leave any behind for the jerk. He drives around in his golf cart to the point of...
Read moreThe campsite was amazing! I booked site #52 at the end of a loop and it was nice and private. Lots of old growth trees on the grounds, a trail to hike, and a creek cutting right through the campground.
It is a short drive away from Crater Lake and I actually preferred my site to anything I saw at the National Park. There's a general store, restaurant, and ice cream stand right before the campground entrance. The ice cream store was never open when I tried to visit, but the store across the street had everything you could need.
The only con was the way-finding was difficult to see. Some roads were one-way only, but it wasn't always clear which way it was. They don't recommend RVs over 28 feet long and I see why. Some of those turns were tight, even for my...
