Our daughter was married at The Old Lantern Inn and Barn this weekend, and I couldn't wait to write this review.
As the mother of the bride, you want everything to be PERFECT for your daughter. This goal was achieved with the help of Sol, Lisa, Jess and Jill at The Old Lantern. They were kind, professional, helpful, understanding, patient and hard working. They answered questions (probably multiple times) with calmness and explanation. I was fully able to enjoy the wedding, handing over all worries when I was needed to be present.
Jess met with me and continually stayed in contact with me during the planning process with patience, information and suggestions. She promptly responded to my questions regardless of the time or day I was texting her on! Another way to keep my nerves calm.
Jill, in her calm way, was checking on us regularly. We were so thankful to Jill as she recognized that my husband and I probably hadn't had dinner at the welcome party the night before the wedding as we were greeting guests all night. She kindly sent us home with a care package with the most delicious, satisfying comfort food that felt like it was sent from heaven!
Sol, was so accommodating, working with us on every detail with patience and suggestions. His calmness certainly spread so we could enjoy the celebrations.
The bride and her bridesmaids stayed at the inn where they were in the comfort of each other, having the house to themselves. Their makeup and hair were done in the common area of the inn, which was such a special way to start the wedding day. Lisa made sure we were doing well, checking in on us regularly that there wasn't something she could help us with and calmly explaining how the day was going to proceed. She kept me posted on the status of the wedding venue, calming my nerves that everything was moving along the way we wanted it to.
I wholeheartedly recommend this venue for a wedding or any other event as the whole staff clearly know how to throw a party and are happy working on every detail with the host. Our daughter and son-in-law are basking in the wonderful memories of their beautiful and perfect wedding weekend. It was exactly what they were dreaming of. We cannot be more thankful for the staff at Old Lantern. They truly checked every box for us...
Read moreMy husband and I held our wedding ceremony and reception at The Old Lantern in October 2022. We booked in September 2021 and worked with their staff to create our dream wedding day for 13 months. We were so pleased with the level of support The Old Lantern staff offered. This was our first time planning a wedding but was far from their first and it showed. They truly thought of everything and guided us every step of the way from what vendors to secure ASAP to working hard to understand our vision.
The venue is stunning and we loved how much was included when booking (tables, chairs, linens, catering, decor, the ability to do an on-site ceremony). We also really loved how flexible they were with bar options - we indicated our budget and we were easily able to work within that to get the most bang for our buck. We had a lot of wedding guests so needed to do a buffet dinner which wasn't what we originally planned for but it was wonderful. It was a plated buffet so they had staff serving. They had a plated dinner for my husband and I so that we were able to quickly eat and make our rounds. The food is INCREDIBLE.
We held our ceremony on-site and were so happy to have had the perfect weather for our big day to be able to host it outside but also really liked their back-up rain plan (a must in Vermont). We were the first outdoor Catholic ceremony hosted at The Old Lantern, having worked with Rev. Msgr. John McDermott.
10/10 experience working with The Old Lantern - Lisa, Ronald, & Julie are rockstars! We are so pleased with our venue choice and will remember our special day fondly for all the days and...
Read moreIn contrast to the excellent reviews by those who stayed here for a wedding, our stay as disappointing. It was on a mid-week night, with seven of the eight rooms were occupied. Signage was a problem. The barn was easily seen, but the inn? We pulled into what we immediately thought was the driveway to a private home, but it turned out to be the inn! The sign was out of sight. For $195, we thought it a poor value. After I asked, the owner brought in ice in an ice chest. After that, we never saw the innkeepers. The room was very small, with a chair but no desk. Shower had no shelf to hold shampoo, gel, etc. Towel racks up high. Not sound-insulated - e.g., you could hear the bathroom fan turned on in the adjoining room as well as voices. But the bed linens were excellent. Breakfast was a "snack bag" containing apple juice, banana, muffin, powdered sugar donut in cellophane, trail mix packet, and granola bar. Chef Roland, who apparently provides wonderful catering for weddings, did not make a hot breakfast for the guests. At least two parties were leaving as I was eating my breakfast snacks - one said, "We're bugging out of here - going to Middlebury for a hot breakfast." My advice: if you're attending a wedding here, great. If you're not, you'll shell out $195 and...
