Maybe its not fair to give this place 5 stars if I haven't actually eaten here.... but I want to. I've been obsessed with the Charlotte Crossings building just for its visual appeal since they started building it and even stopped by before they were finsihed to see the inside and got an impromptu personal tour by the owner (who was very sweet), and every time we drive past we talk about wanting to stop again (but we dont get out much - $ and kids). Last week we happend to be driving by and 2 of my babies were crying about having to go potty so I begged my husband to stop. I figured we'd just slip upstairs to the restroom by the doors but it was locked, but we were already there so I took my girls downstairs and sheepishly asked if they wouldn't mind letting them use the restroom. They were so gracious and understanding and let us in immediately. The restrooms were clean and big. The ambiance is super inviting and the staff is on point! The parking lot is always full of cars.
I wish I could speak to the quality of the food/prices/actual wait service but I will have to wait until I get to eat here. I hope we manage it soon!!! Until then, please go try...
Read moreEdit: I have changed my rating from 2 stars to 1. Based on the restaurant owner’s response, this is not a place that takes constructive criticism well and I do not expect the food to improve. We paid our bill and were respectful - it’s not our fault that half of the dishes did not meet our expectations, I simply left an honest review. A few caveats to their rely: the portions are quite small (e.g., 4 oz of soup), there are no other restaurants nearby, we had been on the road for 4 hours so we were very hungry, the food was very expensive so we felt obligated to finish what we could (we actually left all of the fries because they were so rubbery) - as I mentioned, the salad and calamari were good so we finished those. I would not leave a negative review if it were not warranted and the owner’s reply is quite disrespectful.
Most of the food was not very good yet very expensive. The highlights were the salad and calamari. The clam chowder and steak frites were way...
Read moreGotta say Backyard Bistro is going on the list of go to restaurants between Middlebury and Burlington. Just got home from a really quality meal. Calamari was flavorful with a kick, and the pulled pork mac and cheese is enough for 2 ppl to share as an entre. Looking forward to sitting at the great big bar next time with the fantastic stone bar top. Laid back atmosphere where you can dress up or down and it's all good. Outdoor area in the summer months is very cozy and therea even space for kids to run around in the grass behind the covered patio...
