We arrived at the hotel at 3 in the morning after a 12 hour car ride. We reached the front desk exhausted. The staff was amicable and got us checked in fast. They had a small shop tucked near the front desk for drinks and snacks. The lobby was large and had plenty of seating for both individuals and big families with little coves to hop on a laptop and big tables to seat a few large families. We threw all our stuff on a luggage cart and headed over to the elevator, passing a mid-sized exercise room and a conference room.
We opted for a larger room with a king sized bed because we needed the extra space for our toddlers crib. It was a cinch to get settled in because of the large firm couch (not a pullout, but I could sleep on it comfortably) and plentiful surfaces we could lay our luggage on. We placed our drinks in the empty oversized mini fridge that was tucked into the inbuilt corner dresser which had a microwave and coffee bar. The bathroom was spacious and featured a light up mirror. The 5 setting walk in shower was hot and came with a standard array of personal care products.
Finally I could lay in the cozy king sized bed. The pillows were a perfect medium firmness and the bed was plenty warm even with my wife hogging the blanket (There was an extra blanket and pillow in the inbuilt dresser). I plugged my phone in with just a cable because the room had usb outlets which I always appreciate. The air conditioning unit heated the room effortlessly. We were all very cozy despite the outside temperature dropping to 40 degrees. The blue light from the thermostat was harsh enough to make my wife tape some paper over the display to help us sleep.
I slept in the first day and missed breakfast which ended at 10 in the morning. It wasn’t an issue at all because the hotel is surrounded by a great selection of restaurants including huddle house for breakfast. The next day I was able to get up on time and had the chance to enjoy their continental breakfast. They had yogurt, milk and cereal, instant oatmeal, packaged muffins, toast, eggs, bacon one day and sausage another, apples (a few of which were funky), a cool one button pancake machine, a juice machine, and a coffee machine that was available even after breakfast finished. It was a decent array of options. The lobby was beautifully lit in the morning daylight thanks to the big windows.
There wasn’t any room service besides housekeeping which I think is normal for La Quintas. Overall the room was sparkling clean which is par for the course given the hotel is brand new. There were a few quirks they were ironing out because of how new the location is. That is all to say we really liked staying here.
We were there the week of Thanksgiving. We booked without being sure of the quality because there were so few ratings, but after visiting we can say the Sterrett La Quinta is our first choice of lodging...
Read moreDisgusting lack of customer service. Manager won’t answer calls or emails emails.
Partner and I were supposed to stay here for a wedding weekend but our flight got canceled. Tried to reach out to the hotel before the 24 hour cancellation window- could NOT reach anyone at the front desk no matter how many times we called. 20+ calls and every call went to voicemail. Reached out to the corporate customer service line and spent 2+ hours on the phone, spoke with 3 different individuals plus a supervisor who all tried to reach out to the hotel to cancel the reservation for us. They couldn’t get through to anyone either and said it was impossible for the reservation to be cancelled in their system and I had to reach someone at the hotel. They gave me the email for the manager. I sent an email requesting to cancel the reservation and didn’t hear back. Then my card is charged $195 for a “no call no show” fee. I tried to call! 20+ times! It’s ridiculous. It’s 4 days later and multiple calls to the hotel and I still can’t get a reply from a manager to get a refund. AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS! They will not let you cancel your stay and will charge you for their negligence! I can only imagine how awful the service would have been had we actually stayed...
