Comfort Inn Chestertown, MD, on the face of things, resembles any and every other Choice owned Hotel. They're like the Olive Garden of hotels. You go to a franchise because you know what to expect. On This stay. however, I experienced the unexpected.
Call me a klutz or careless or whatever other descriptor that comes to mind - I dropped my car fob chip while locking the car door only to realize, much to my dismay, that I had parked my car over a storm drain and my means of transportation now resided 4 feet down below the grate in a puddle of water. #*@!#. I'm sure you know what I mean.
To keep this short enough to keep a reader's interest, I'll cut to the chase. Upon inquiring at the front desk if they had anything on hand to help me retrieve my drowned key fob I met 2 unlikely heros - Cathy and Tyler. They are the heros of this story and remind us that the most important asset any company has are their employees. These two wonderful human beings truly espouse outstanding customer service!
After over an hour of trying various methods of retrieving my errant keys, including a home rigged fishing line with a paper clip hook fashioned by Cathy and. Broom handle fashioned with a ball of gorilla tape on the end invented by Tyler, we finally won the day by lifting the storm drain grate out and Tyler lowering himself into the drain to capture my keys.
What will forever stand out in my mind about my visit to Chestertown, is the kindness these two showed towards a complete stranger. They probably wouldn't seek it out, but Comfort Inn, Chestertown should recognize these two employees for far exceeding this customer's...
Read moreWe found the amenities here satisfactory. Bedding and bath okay, breakfast typical of a chain hotel, rooms comfortable. (A few minor annoyances – parking was in the back, difficult to use luggage cart to and from there; back door was hard to open; closet bar in our room too low for slacks or dress; ground floor window looked out on hotel driveway, we kept curtains drawn). Reason for our rating: After returning to the hotel late and tired, we got in bed, turned on the TV and no signal. The full Guide displayed but no channels worked. Call for maintenance, get up and get dressed, wait and hope they’re available late? Too tired. After trying various buttons on the remote with no luck we gave up. Tried it again next morning with same result. Reported it to the desk clerk when checking out. She said the manager would call us. No call the next day or the next. Called the hotel back, desk clerk remembered us and said manager would definitely call. We never received a call or phone message (and no missed calls on either phone.) After we described this in their requested feedback, the General Manager finally contacted us by email to say that they’d called twice and left a message (nothing on our phones) and that the TV was fine in the morning (not when we tried it). This is upsetting not because the TV didn’t work, but because management disputed and dismissed our complaint in this manner. When you pay for a service and don’t get it, you deserve a decent explanation if not compensation. This is customer service not worthy of the Choice/Comfort...
