When I think of a Classic B&B, the McConnell Inn is what comes to mind. It is a scrumptious Victorian with lovely gardens and even lovlier hosts. ||Staying in a historic building adds so much splendor to a trip. The high ceilings, the woodwork, the wallpaper, and little nooks are all so delightful. There is a piano room with some board games, a sitting room, a dining area, and wrap around veranda/porch all of which we partook.||Did I mention breakfast? It is that 2nd B that I miss in a lot of B&Bs. It started with coffee, real cream, and juice. Our first day it was smoothies, sausage, and homemade banana berry waffles…yes…waffles! Our next day was open faced ham and egg creations. Each day it was a joy.||The location was ideal for our journey. It was a mere block away from the marina for us to get on our boat. A restaurant bar another 1/2 block away which was a great place to watch the big game but far enough away that we had peace and quiet. Downtown was 2 blocks away and a nice boutique saunter plus a place to get quick supplies.||We lucked upon the weekend of the Wisconsin State Chili Cookoff which was in the local park. The woodwork is stunning. The art, furniture, and historical pieces are very tastefully done without clutter. The owners have been there for 40 years, and it shows. Every detail for your personal comfort has been added, including electric adjustable beds for feet and head positioning. Who does that? It's awesome. Breakfast in the morning is delicious, and done with a traditional and creative flair. A couple of blocks in one direction you are in the downtown. A couple of blocks in another direction you are at a quaint beach on Green Lake. Whether you are looking for hiking, boating, swimming, it is all there to be enjoyed. A furnished deck to sit out on any time of the day. As a romantic getaway, don't get me...
Read moreDartford room was beautiful. The furnishings we're exactly what you'd expect from an updated 1900s home. The bathroom had a heated tile floor and a spacious walk in shower. The water pressure was amazing after a day out on the town. The morning breakfast was served on time at 830 with fresh coffee, fruit and an assortment of pastries or eggs. Other guests were pleasant to speak with at the large communal breakfast table in the mornings. A locally made chocolate bar to go and little bag of locally made popcorn were some small details that made the stay special. With three local golf courses, several nearby restaurants, nature to explore, and lake activities available, you would be hard pressed to find a better stay here in green lake. The pricing was in line with other B&B in the are and it probably has the...
