Goose Blind Grill & Bar — Restaurant in City of Green Lake

A friend and I went to Gooseblind this past Friday. I ordered a Badger burger, medium rare, and my friend ordered shrimp scampi. We waited 45 minutes for our meals. When they arrived, my burger was well done. I returned it, asking again for meduim rare. 25 minutes later they brought out another burger, more cooked than the first one. The shrimp from the scampi was overcooked, chewy, and hardly edible. I asked to speak with management and a woman named Lisa came to the table. She looked at the burger and agreed that it was well done, and not what I ordered, twice. She apologized, adding that they are hiring two new cooks in May. She went on to say that the cooks they have now are terrible at their jobs. Such loyalty to her employees! She offered us each a piece of cheesecake to go and said she'd give me a giftcard "to entice you to come back after the new cooks start." Thinking that she was trying to help us, I agreed. The cheese cake slices were the smalles Ive ever seen. It was straight out of the freezer, bland and tasteless. And the giftcard? It was for $5. Seriously?? I sat for 75 minutes, watching everybody else eat. I left with no meal. I don't know what Lisa thinks enticement is, but its certainly not $5! I has also ordered clam chowder to go and my friend had hers with her ml. I paid $5.50 for the chowder. Today, my friend has food poisoning. So, Im not eating my chowder, thats for damn sure. I can guarantee neither of us will EVER go back to the Gooseblind for a meal. The food was disgusting, the service was poor, and the new management is worse than the old. If I was one of those cooks, I'd be done working there since my boss blamed me for it all, saying I can't cook. I'll be sure to warn people about how awful our experience was and tell them to eat anywhere esle in Green lake but at the Gooseblind. Nasty...

Was in town for a golf weekend. arrived at about 8:00 Friday evening. Fish Fry on Special. Originally the waitress said they were out of Perch and Walleye but had Cod. then cam back and said they were also out of Cod! What Wisconsin restaurant runs out of all fish on a Friday night??!! i ended up having the Sausage Pasta dish. Awful!! It tasted like Ketchup over pasta. No salad, garlic toast included. As luck would have it we had to come back the next night as all other restaurants were full. we were seated in the patio which was OK until it stared to rain. The roof leaked something terrible. Very poor construction! We had to move and still had to dodge rain drops leaking thru. I ordered the Prime Rib which only could be ordered Medium or Medium Well because they overcooked it! i ordered mine Medium and it came Medium Well. No hint of pink!! My buddy ordered a tap Busch Light. They gave him a bottle because that is what they had. He wanted a tap beer and the waitress did not offer to exchange. Other buddy ordered a Ketel One but they were out of that too! We ordered an appetizer and two of us ordered the Prime Rib with a side salad and the other two split a pizza. All of the food came out at the same time!! Appetizer, pizza, salad and Prime Rib!!!! How is that even possible!! My baked potato was also hard which by this time just seemed about right. I’m from the Madison area and met a friend here for drinks on June 16th or 17th. We each had a drink, music was good, drinks were amazing. This review would have been at least a four star if it wasn’t for what happened after. Found out the next day that I had two charges on my debit card. One of which was accurate and I definitely signed for. The second was for a different amount, with a different transaction number. Not ours. I called immediately and was told that they were having problems with their system and that the second charge would drop off. Told to call back on Wednesday if it hadn’t. Don’t drop off, so I called back. I explained the situation again, left a message with my phone number, was told they would look into it. Again waited a week with nothing back from them. Called back again, asked for a manager, was told she wasn’t taking phone calls. Explained again and left another message. No phone call back. Almost two weeks later I was writing a google review and I finally hear back. The manager asks if this situation has been resolved, I said it had not. She called me back shortly after to tell me that I had two charges that night and tells me what I was charged for on both, I confirm that the first one was mine, and that we had only had one drink each and left. She sounds annoyed but tells me that she will issue me a refund. Over another week later, I have yet to see it. Really is a shame because I will likely be back in Green Lake more frequently, but will not likely...
