I'm a regular around this town even lived in the town for a few years.
Yes, there are train tracks and yes they sound the horn a bit longer than one would think is necassary.
The owner can be strict as well, but he's that way due to some of the clientele he has to deal with around the town. Personally speaking, I admire he's somewhat strict as you won't have to worry about car thefts, vandalism or bed bugs in this facility.
Another great thing about these folks is they allow pets, preferably small dogs and the reason is obvious, unless of course a large dog is well trained. They do have a set price for pets, but willing to work with you if need be. The deposit is non-refundable though. In addition to pets, they also have kitchenettes in some of the rooms. And should you have a problem with say a remote control or television not working correctly, they will happily do what's necassary to make your stay comfortable.
Years ago, my wife and encountered a mold problem in a home we were renting in Clovis. The landlord denied the issue, but we still refused to stay. We had two small dogs and the owners at the Choice Inn accommodated us and our pups in ever way. They allowed us to stay for about four months while we addressed the other issue with the previous landlord and looked for a new home.
Again, I'm a local around this town and eastern New Mexico as well. The Choice Inn isn't fancy like the Ritz, but if in need of a good place to rest and want some honest and genuine owners...this is your go to place.
My only complaint, wish they had...
Read moreThe good stuff: The owner was friendly and chatted with us while he checked us in. We rented 2 rooms and saw no bugs at all in either room. The rose bushes on this property are beautiful. The rooms are fairly spacious. The bed/mattress looked fairly new. The building has a rather nostalgic feel. No one bothered us and we felt safe enough. Very good lighting. Not a single bulb was out on the entire property (I notice such things ha ha) The A/C was great. It ran quietly/consistently and it didn't clunk on and off.||||The not so good stuff: Lets get the train out of the way. Train horns blew by every 30 minutes or so all night long. This is in no way the fault of the management||though. Just bring ear plugs. The tub was too gross to shower in and the towels were sandpaper. No coffee in one room and no coffee pot in the other. One room had very dirty beat up blinds that didn't fit the window. When we touched them they fell down so we hung the bedspread up over the window. The remote control didn't work. The worst part was that the bed frame was bigger than the mattress so a metal bar stuck out from the bottom of the bed. I whacked my leg on it so hard! ||||Overall: A little attention to detail could go a long with this property. It's got a ton of potential. Better use could be made of the basketball court with no nets. It could be a...
Read moreNot bad for $45 a night. King sized beds, clean rooms, fast Wi-Fi, and laundry. It's just those stupid train HORNS all night long. I stop here once a week. Mostly I'm tired, so the trains don't bother me once I'm asleep. But once I'm awake and wanting to lounge around with a book, its impossible to concentrate.
The owner and his wife are very nice. They spent a boat load of money renovating this place. Nice thing about this place, is you park your car infront of your door. Like a motor inn. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. This is still a good value is you are a...
