This used to be my favorite place to eat. We come here every Weekend all the way from dimmitt. Their prices lately have gone way up, and their service and serving portions significantly have gotten worse. Every time I go it takes me at least an hour to get my food, refills on drinks take forever, drinks get served wrong, food is missing, or portions are wrong. I even walked out one time bc I was ignored for 30 min. Today after waiting over an hour to receive our food with 3 hungry kids, we receive only 2 plates and our waitress blames the people in the back, saying āthey served 2 plates on one, idk why they would do thatā and the people in the back donāt have any idea what sheās talking about. Sheās always forgetting things, gets our orders wrong, doesnāt bring high chairs, and then blames the customers. I tried telling her today that it always happens when sheās our waitress ans she raised her voice at me in front of a bunch of other customers. There was another time when I asked her why we only got served like 7 fries in the carne asada plate and it took over an hour to serve and she said āidk Iām gonna go talk to the owner right now bc thatās ridiculousā I never asked her to speak to the owner, she comes back again and tells me the owner was on the way. I was thinking maybe they were going to bring me another plate or give me a discount.. instead when the owner came out she looked terrified like I was going to scold her. I said, āIām sorry I thought you were going to come talk to me. I never requested to speak to you. The waitress was the one who told me she was going to call youā. She was as confused as I was, and I still payed full price for the meals. It was about $75 for 3 carne asada fries and side of guacamole and drinks. Never going here again. I tried giving them so many chances bc their food is honestly so delicious. Thereās no reason why someone who is going into a restaurant to spend their hard earned money to spend a nice Sunday as a family should be treated the way they treat you here. Tory, the owners daughter was very polite but we still didnāt receive our food as expected, she said Iām bringing you 2 more plates, and I thought she was going to bring us 2 more plates of food but she brought the plates by themselves šš. Overall itās so overpriced and you get crappy service but the food is good. Itās just not worth it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a nice little touch of Tex-mex. The aromas dancing around in the air were amazing! They have a wide variety of dishes. It reminds me of an authentic mom and pop shop! The staff was very attentive and eager to greet us. We were literally met at the front door! It was our first time here , but they treated us like family! They answered all of our questions politely and respectfully! In great detail. They staff coordinated perfectly in harmony. Moving quickly amongst one another, all the while keeping smiles on their faces! Seriously many groups or people came and went. I overhead a lot of the interactions while waiting for my food to-go. The had to have know half of their customersās orders! They knew most by name. The display of my food is simple but nice. I received it within 15 minutes of waiting. We got the El Miguel and the Barbacoa plate with rice and beans. Surprisingly the rice and beans were both refried and Mexican style rice but they tasted completely different! The El Miguelās rice was spicy and the beans were decent. The burrito is essentially a tortilla with meat and onions and bell peppers with white cheese on top of it and A LOT OF GREASE! The Barbacoa was ābacoaā minus the āBarā because there was no fiesta!! The rice had no flavor or seasoning. The beans and Barbacoa were the same sadly. Itās not bad itās just not flavorful like I expected(there was zero flavor). Look Iāll be honest if your family is one that prefers authentic flavors or seasoning in general this isnāt really the place. Now if you have picky eaters this just might be the place for you! I really wish it would have been better. Maybe it just was an off day. The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe recently relocated to the Clovis area via a PCS move. K & H Cocina in Portales was the first restaurant we visited. We met the lovely owners while dining and were delighted by their kind demeanor and attentiveness to us. The atmosphere is warm, and the decor is bright with stunning artwork and inspirational quotes throughout. It felt like being in someone's home.
Mi Cocina is owned by the same couple who run K & H Cocina. In both restaurants, the servers were polite and cheerful. Both restaurants are kid friendly and serve healthy sized portions of delicious American and New Mexican fare for very reasonable prices. They offer breakfast all day, which is a big winner for me.
I honestly can not say anything negative about these two restaurants. They have decidedly become our family's favorite after checking out several restaurants between Clovis and Portales. We will happily continue patronizing these sister restaurants during our stay here these...
