I know words won’t do justice to the experience we had staying at the inn but the people who work so hard to make it what it is deserve praise and recognition so I will do my best:
Our positive experience started before we ever set foot on the farm. About a week before our trip we got an email offering us help to plan our stay or answer any questions. We were traveling with our toddler so I had a lot of questions and they quickly and graciously answered them all. Based on their advice, I reserved the farm chores experience which I will talk about later, but that interaction alone got us excited because it was obvious they cared about us having a good time.
A couple days later, we also got a phone call making sure we have everything we needed and answered last-minute questions.
When we arrived at night after a long travel day, a pack n play with sheets and a blanket was waiting in our room for us. We had brought our own, but it’s such a thoughtful touch and so nice for families if you don’t have your own.
Aside from the beauty of the room we immediately remarked on how spotless the place was, which is extra impressive for a working farm.
In the morning we came down for breakfast and not only did they have a high chair ready for our daughter, but they set her up with toddler utensils and cups and I was truly mind blown by that. We bring utensils for her everywhere we go because I would’ve never expected that, so it was so sweet and made us feel like our daughter was being treated like an important guest. We also met the staff running the place at breakfast and they were so welcoming. Breakfast was INCREDIBLE.
Then came the highlight of our trip, the farm chores tour with Halyna. If you have kids and you take away one thing from my review let it be this: do the farm chores tour and ask for Halyna! She took us around the whole farm on her golf cart, where we got to meet all the animals, and she involved our girl in feeding them all, from bottle-feeding the calves to throwing food for the pigs. We all had a blast! She is so incredibly sweet, funny, and amazing with kids.
There are so many things to do on the farm including lots of play spaces for kids, and we got to take advantage of participating in the weekend harvest festival which was included with our stay.
We live out of state but plan to make this an annual family fall tradition. Thank you Mary’s Land Farm! We’ll see...
Read moreThe rating isn't a great representation of my experience, since some parts were awesome and other parts were "meh". I attended the "Farm Immersion Experience" which was advertised as:||🐓Three days of structured immersion (communal activities and meals)|🐓Comfortable accommodations in our historic inn or RV/Tent Space|🐓Farm fresh meals prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients|🐓Welcome BBQ Dinner with Bonfire|🐓Full Farm tour with Lecture and Q&A|🐓Hands-on farm intensive activities|🐓Opportunity to participate in farm chores twice a day|🐓Access to 160 acres of serene farmland to explore|🐓Discounted shopping at Farm Store throughout the stay||I think they were having some organizational issues because communication about the immersion program was sparse and unclear. (Much like the immersion program itself). We had dinner the first night (not BBQ or bonfire) and then didn't see anyone after. The inn was lovely, and the chef was very accommodating. The rooms were clean (which is so hard to do on a farm!) and cute, I loved the heated floors in the bathroom. The next morning, we had breakfast and then 1.5 hours with a guide who showed us around the farm and let the kids feed some animals, which was a hit. There was not a formal lecture and I did not get a good overall sense of what the farm did, growing practices, animal practices, etc. Then we had some sandwiches for lunch and the next activity for another 1.5 hours. This activity was the “goat walk” which was 4 kids trying to walk one goat on a leash. The kids had fun. I wanted to end it before the 1.5 hours because it was hot (and a bit boring). ||We had dinner, then firepit for smores. The next morning it was just breakfast and leave, no more activities. The guide was nice enough to stop by and give the kids certificates on her way to church. ||I wanted to love the experience, since the people were so nice. It was great for the kids to run around and have fun. I had a lovely time with my friend. But it was not really different than if we had stayed in the bed and breakfast- except it cost more. The farm immersion consisted of 3 hours of activity with the guide and smores at night on Saturday. In my opinion,...
Read moreWe stayed here while visiting our grandson who is attending Stephenson University nearby. Actually this is the first time we stayed at a B&B. This house is impeccably decorated and they account for everything you would need. Our room was on the second floor and they had a code for us to enter the building and our room. it was a beautiful room with an adjustable bed and beautifully decorated bathroom. There is an elevator to take you up to your room with your luggage. Downstairs there is the breakfast room in living room and the sunroom with games. My husband was able to work in the sunroom as he gets up early. The kitchen is nearby where you can prepare food or just get your tea. Julie was on point with breakfast both days and it was delicious. Everything is sustainably raised, organic and healthy. Each day there is a blackboard at the top of the stairs where you choose what you would like for breakfast the next day. The farm store at the bottom of the hill is open each day and we had fun looking and buying products. This is an amazingly large well run organization. We walked around the entire farm and saw the cows and the sheep and the many areas that they have for children to play. I can’t say enough great things about our time here. In the room they have a sound machine that you can use at night as this is an old house and you need to be aware that you will hear some noise from other guests. We met several interesting people and had a great time in this atmosphere. I told my husband I don’t want to stay at a regular hotel again when this is the choice...
