Big Red's Lodges — Hotel in Columbus

A colleague and I each rented one of the lodges since we wanted to stay close to the Bing Cancer Center for a training course. We were both very pleased with the spaciousness of the lodges and the overall cleanliness (had some concern about that when I read some of the other reviews). The bathroom was huge with the sink in a separate area from the shower and toilet. I particularly enjoyed the gas fireplace, both for the cozy feeling and the extra warmth it provided with the blower option. The kitchenette included a mini-fridge, sink, microwave, coffee maker, and dishes/utensils for 4. For a longer stay it would be nice to have a stove top/burner option, but this was fine for a short stay. The pathway and porches were well-lit all night, and parking was easy to find and close to the lodges. Wi-Fi was fast, free, and easy to access.||||Check-in is at the McConnell Heart Health Center (which we didn't realize until going to the lodges first). At check-in, we were offered passes to the fitness center, onsite classes, and $10 coupons to use at the cafe and snack bar. The McConnell staff were welcoming and very helpful in orienting us to the campus. My wife was having some outpatient surgery in the medical complex nearby, and the physician's office arranged for us to stay here for two nights. It met our needs perfectly. It is not a five-star property with high end amenities. But it was clean, quiet and convenient, and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. There was a gas fireplace that came in handy on a single-digit winter night. There is a small refrigerator and a microwave. TV's in the living area and bedroom. The shower is large, and the dressing area and mirror are outside the bathroom, so two people can easily get ready at once. In the morning there were deer tracks in the snow, so I have to believe that evenings in other times of the year would include deer sightings. The staff at McConnell Heart Health Center, where check-in is located, was friendly and helpful. If you have need of lodging around the Riverside medical campus, Big Red's will definitely...

The place itself was very nice. The staff however. Can’t say the same. The “managers” are they even really managers?? My daughter left her baby blanket and I called the very next morning to a very rude lady named Diane who compared it to a bikini. Everyone we have spoke to basically says the laundry service Comtex just pretty much throws anything out that isn’t the laundry.. and we will never see her blanket again. I was not taking this as an answer. This is an attachment to her and has been with her since before birth. I have been up there to speak to a manager (who rushed us out) that said she had my info and was sending me an email that was sent to the laundry service which she never did. I’ve called the laundry service place Comtex and sent an email. We are going on 3 weeks. And nothing. Horrible...
