Worst hotel stay of my life. Hotel room wet, heating unit fire hazard. Hotel didnt seem to care.
Entered the room, carpet wet. Bed super moist damp. Bathoom floor covered in moisture. Complete slipping hazard. I tried wiping it down. Didnt work. Some of the wall paper peeling around the edges in a giant square.
My teen tried to turn on the heat (ac/heat were completely off). Couldnt get heat to work, only blower. Unit so old, looked like it'd break down.
Next day almost fell again, tried to wipe slippery floor down. No matter how many times I wiped floor down, turned slippery in mins. Tried to take bath. Hot water flow size of a quarter. Cold, full blast. Tub stopper didnt work. Tried shower, burn or freeze. Short curly hairs around sink and tub. Slip grip & knobs old & grimy. Towels were crusty like they'd been in alternating cold wet, and hot dry neglected for a long time. (I don't think this is a housekeeping issue, I think its a management issue).
When we came back from out thing, my kid begged me not to stay- so awful & miserable. Our drive too long, we stayed.
Room less wet after blower on for 19 hours. The bathroom floor still wet and slippery, I wiped it down again. I pushed normal heat buttons on heater; unit smelled like going to catch fire. Not a 'few bugs/dust that is no big deal bad smell', a 'this unit is catching fire" smell. Possible from bugs & dust? Yes, if enuff accumulated to making heating unit a fire hazard.
Other stuff? key cards/ice machine/microwave didnt work, elevator shook/made disturbing sound, huge crack in another guest window, the fridge/microwave were never plugged in or had cords unwound. We did it after our food spoiled
I regretted not immediately (even though it would've meant sleeping in our car in a strange city at night in the middle of nowhere). When we got home, family noted moisture could've created outlet danger. We were too tired/shaken on check in to process the level of bad.
Worried about future guests, I told the desk very calmly. I didnt ask for refund; wanted them to know so could fix. Desk staff got defensive. Dismissed heating complaint as normal bugs/dust in heaters not run for 3 months.
Its a hotel with a lot of guests. A FIRE CAN KILL PPL. If a guest tells says even a remote possibility, you say "thank you we'll check that out immediately". Then you do it.
I realized state of the room from lack of climate control for months. If blower/ac had been on (like normal hotels), bugs/dust wouldnt be able to settle to smell like its going to CATCH FIRE (not buggy smell) when heat turn on. Its been cold in ohio. Past 3 months = rain/ice/snow/sleet/sunny warm days. No way this heater wouldn't have been turned on if the room used. Which means either a dangerous accumulation had built up or the unit is dangerous. Clearly hadn't been routine maintenance checked.
YOU DONT WANT TO STAY AT A HOTEL THAT DOESNT MAINTAIN THEIR HEATING UNITS, LETS BUGS & DEBRIS BUILD UP TO THE LEVEL OF SMELLING OR BEING A FIRE HAZARD, THEN DOESN'T TAKE A REPORT SERIOUSLY.
Your life is worth so much more than dying in a fire at a place like this.
Desk told me since I didn't tell them first night: its on me and not their problem cuz 'didn't give them a chance to repair it'.
Nope.
They have history of wet room complaint reviews. Requiring guest to complain in middle of the night, to maybe get upgraded from hazard trap is insulting, esp when they know its a prob.
Bathroom was SLICK. Usually the first place ppl go - potential for slip/fall injuries is high before people can complain so hotel can "make it right".
They did't take any complaints seriously. Were defensive, I had to extricate to check out.
When I said Im leaving bad reviews they said, "Go ahead, we dont care. People book here all the time. You arent going to scare off anyone. Wont lose any business. Complain away."
Tl;dr: hotel is a fire/health hazard, management doesnt care, good staff punished, bad staff behavior rewarded. Stay...
Read moreThis place was absolutely terrible. Summary: The rooms were not well kept and the staff was not at all pleasant. Not worth the money.
We got in around 3am due to some flight issues, just wanting to get a few hours of sleep before finishing the drive home. We called ahead of time to make sure it would be okay that we came in that late and were told yes. We originally thought we had booked two rooms online with the airline gift cards (refunded money for cancelled flights) but only one had gone through. We called to see if we could just book the other room when we got there and split the payment between two cards. We were told yes. Turns out that was not the case, we couldn’t split the payment to book the other room and ended up with 6 people in one king bed room. We asked to switch to a two bed room and were told that was not possible unless we booked another room. Nothing was said to us about limits on people per room (!!!) So we decided to just make it work for a few hours of sleep. Got up to the room and the bathroom was GROSS. Went back down stairs to ask for some extra pillows and blankets so we could sleep on the room floor, didn’t even bother with complaining about anything because we just wanted to sleep. There was NO ONE at the front desk and no one to be found anywhere. People were waiting to check out and be shuttled to the airport and had been waiting for over half an hour. Finally someone came back and we had the chance to ask for extra pillows and blankets. He did not ask for our room number, just said yes and left to drive the shuttle. I am guessing there was only one person to run the desk and shuttle which I understand, everyone is short staffed. We waited for about 30 minutes for the person to return. When they came back and saw us still standing there they immediately started getting defend and said, “You aren’t even supposed to be in that room, there should only be three of you. You aren’t going to bully me into anything free, the best I can do is two comforters and you need to go wait in the room.” We hadn’t even said anything, even though we definitely could’ve complained about the gross room, waiting an hour to talk to someone, waiting a half hour for pillows and blankets, or even being told we could book the other room with two cards and that not being true. SO MANY THINGS but we did not want to cause an issue, JUST SLEEP. We were tired of being ignored and patronized for an hour and at this point, it was 5am. We got our wallets and went to book another room. When we walked back down, he said, “Good, you guys need to leave or book another room because there should only be three of you in that room.” Which was completely different from what he said the last time we were down there but at this point, we did not care. After being asked if our IDs to book the room were fake, it was $85 to use a grimy room for FOUR HOURS to sleep after being ignored by the hotel staff and patronized for simply wanting extra pillows and blankets. So Brandon, if you see this, I truly hope your customer service skills improve soon because the way you treated us...
Read moreAs long as your expectation isn't very high you won't be disappointed. There are pros and cons to this hotel. The pool is one of the nicest indoor hotel pools I have ever seen. The water is clear not cloudy. It is kept pretty warm. The pool area is fairly clean and it wasn't crowded. In fact we were the only ones at the pool on a Friday night. I wish there was still a hot tub. Our room was pretty dirty. The beds are clean and bug free. That is the first thing I do when we check into a hotel no matter the price point. Now I wasn't expecting the taj mahal but I would be ticked if I was on vacation for a week and stayed in a room in desperate need of a deep clean.. the first thing I noticed upon opening the door was the filthy window covered with handprints. It looks like a little kid put sticky hands all over it. There are cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, dirty splatters all over the walls and lamp. Some sticky mess all over the alarm clock which isn't plugged in and I don't care. I use my phone. The floors were disgusting. Filthy carpet and mud all over the bathroom floor. It did not have a just cleaned smell. Judging by the bedding I'm guessing turn over just consists of new sheets and tossing a couple towels in the bathroom. They may clean the bathroom sink area that didn't look gross but I still put our toothbrushes in a cup and laid a hand towel out to put our other stuff on. I constantly get growled at by my husband for cleaning rooms, houses, condos when we travel. But chaos 8n a small space makes me nervous. I had put all the trash at the bin in the bathroom. There were only towels for 2 provided in a room where 3 were booked and it sleeps 4. I had put all the dirty towels in the bathtub. We were gone all day and came back. Our room wasn't cleaned or stocked. No clean towels. They are still in the bathtub. Trash bin is mare than full. My husband went down to the front desk for clean towels and after 15 plus minutes there wasn't any staff so he just grabbed some clean ones intended to be left by the pool. For 70 bucks a night it's ok. We came just to watch the OSU game and to hang out in Columbus for the weekend. I would stay here again for another short stay. There are good things and bad things about every place. The hall smells like cigarettes and weed but that is becoming normal no matter what hotel we stay in. I haven't really seen much staff. The other guests have been pleasant in passing in the hall. I feel safe enough. I'm sure the issues are due to lack of staffing. It is kind of sad the hotel has the potential to be great. Not just mediocre. But I realize like everywhere else you have to have willing participants that have some integrity to keep things up. The few employees here probably are overworked, understaffed, under appreciated and overloaded. Doing the very bare minimum probably consumes all of their time. That seems to be a common thing. Our workforce in this country is terrible. Doesn't matter what industry. Mediocre has become the normal. No one has a sense of pride anymore.Show less Date of stay:...
