My husband and I recently stayed in this hotel while visiting with family in the area and had to cut our visit short due to our experience here. To begin with our rooms were located on the second floor but since there There is no elevator ( a fact we discovered only after we picked up our room keys ) . My 70 yr. old husband and I had to make numerous trips with our suitcases up the flight of stairs to our room. This was only after our key failed to open the back entrance door and the hotel manager was fetched. He claimed that one of his clerks had some technical problem with our key. The hotel had the smell of cheap deodorizer, similar to the kind you find hanging in a gas station rest room. At night that smell became so overwhelming that it eventually triggered a migraine. The rooms itself appeared clean but the beds lacked normal -sized pillows. The second night we were there there were some late partygoers in the next room and hallway that made it difficult to get to sleep because of the noise they were making. When we finally did manage to fall asleep after midnight , we were awakened by the sound of the fire alarm. We were led outside where we stood in the cold night and watched fire engines appear. It turned out that some idiot had been smoking a vapor cigarette which had tripped the alarm. All in all, a hotel stay from hell. We decided to leave the following morning, cutting our visit stay a day short. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here. I've been in many hotels in the area that were first-rate - this was definitely not...
Read moreWhen I tell you that this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at, I say this with pride. Genuinely incredible staff, very attentive and helpful, the person who worked the night of our check in date was super friendly and courteous, sadly forgot to get her name but she was awesome. The breakfast is absolutely the best I've had in a standard hotel, full on scrambled eggs with bacon/sausage, little triangle potato things, pancakes, bagels, cereal, this is what breakfast should be like in every place. They had a gorgeous pool, which sadly we couldn't use due to just not having our swimming attire/it being the middle of October, but it looked clean as anything. Our room had a balcony area, was extremely clean, chargers above the bed, a heat lamp in the bathroom, which my girlfriend, now fiancé since I proposed during my time in this area, absolutely loved. Oh yeah, plus my girlfriend and I got engaged here, I was super nervous, but they made us feel like we were at home. This is a fantastic hotel, old school sure, but none the less, if we end up taking another trip to Salem, this will be our hotel of choice. No questions asked. Sure its about an hour away, but I'd rather drive a bit and stay at a place I know will be a fantastic stay. I say this with over 4 years of hospitality under my belt,...
Read moreVery nice staff, location is really easy to find. The pool was excellent, as was the included breakfast. Eggs, sausage, bacon, muffins, coffee, pastries, cookies (at the front desk). They even have a basic work out room, FYI.. WiFi is included. Only two small gripes, otherwise this would have been a slam-dunk 5 stars. One, the A/C units make a droning noise all night long, not bad, but still, if they cycled at a lower speed we would have slept better. The other one is this: Our queen bed was concave. That being said, we were staying two nights and they quickly upgraded us to a room with a much newer mattress - a king, at that. The rooms were clean and modern. Tip: Eat at the Italian restaurant or sushi place next door, don't go to downtown Concord unless $35 is your base for lunch. We will probably come back here, to this same...
