We booked online and had a basic room with two queen size beds and a balcony overlooking the pool and water area. The room was very clean and you could smell bleach as soon as we walked in. The beds were comfortable and pillows also. We did however have a lot of trouble with getting our key to work in the door. It seemed like Everytime we had to do it three or four times in order to get into our room. We weren't the only room with this issue either. We saw two other guests with separate rooms with the same problem. Now the door to the balcony was almost impossible to open. All three of us took a turn trying to get it open because it would just stick. So both doors, really that was unpleasant. The walk down to the pool is rather crazy since it has a lot of never ending steps that go pretty far down and take you partially the opposite direction of the pool. You end far right instead of just a straight shot to the pool. The hike back up is very steep. If your handicapped or any issues walking I doubt you could use the pool. The water temperature is decent though. One of the women at the front desk was very nice and helpful when we asked her about things to do in the area as well as other food suggestions. They have a tavern and restaurant on site and they offered a buffet as well as regular menu. We ordered of regular menu. We tried potato skins with sour cream, lemon baked catfish, macaroni and cheese and green beans. I thought the food was good and the prices were fair. However the service was slow and not very attentive. Another hotel guest told us they had very similar experience to us and that they had eaten there three times and each time the service wasn't good. Overall great place to stay but might not want to eat in there unless you have...
Read moreThis is the worst place to stay. If you are going to red River gorge please stay in another place or an Airbnb or cabin. You will thank me later. The person who checked us in didn't know what she was doing. And there was no one else there to help her. She gave us our key to the door which didn't work. So, we had to go back down to the office to get another one. And that one didn't work. She finally figured out how to do it after an hour. The room was dirty when we finally got in our room. When we told the front desk they said there was nothing they can do until the next day. The next day came and no one came. We just cleaned it ourselves. We went out for the day and was so ready to relax. We get back to our room and when we opened the door to our room there was a man in our room. We asked him what he was doing in our room he just walked out. So, we called the front seat to let them know what happened and they acted like we was lying. We only stay there that night because we didn't have another place to go. We found another place in the morning. Also they tell you that you get a free breakfast in the morning and that's a lie also. We went down to eat at 730am. And they didn't have any gravy or waffle mix. The eggs was powder egg's. And the sausage was microwave sausage.(I think) All I know is it wasn't edible.worst place in the world to stay at. We will never be back. And I will tell as many people I know (I know a lot of people who go every summer to the gorge)to never go there. I just can't believe that they don't care if their guess have a great stay or not. As much money as we paid to stay from 3/16/24 - 3/18/24 would of stayed longer if they cared to fix any of our complaints...

As I opened the door to the room, the first thing that hit me was the overwhelming smell of damp, followed by the uncanny feeling of walking on ice as my feet hit the damp, extremely slippery tiles. Eager to relieve my nostrils and let some air into the room, I tried to open the door to the balcony. It took a lot of tugging as the damp had swollen it closed. The east-facing balcony was nice and shady, a perfect home for hungry mosquitoes which flocked into the room through the torn fly screen on the door. We had to use sticky-tape from the reception to tape this closed as a stop gap.
The bathroom door would not close at all - whenever my husband or I had to use it, the other would need to retire to the outdoors or opposite end of the room. Even if the door had fit in the frame, the handle was hanging out.
Elsewhere, a lightbulb was out - housekeeping could not be found to replace it and the phone to reception not connected.
We tried the bargain meal deal for dinner. Vegetables boiled until they’re grey and free from vitamins and soup with strangely no flavour. The staff were very friendly and eager to please however, cannot fault them.
So we decided to go to bed, leaving the door open to ensure we made it alive to check out 3 days early in the morning. The bed was saggy and gave us bad backs, the sheets thin with holes which trapped your toes as you tossed and turned throughout the night, dreams of bedbugs running through your head.
Hands down, the worst place I have ever spent a night.
