It’s a gorgeous restaurant and lodge in an older way - think Dirty Dancing and you’ll be pleased. I honestly went just for the experience and the view, not expecting much of the food (despite other rave reviews). The menus look simple and the prices are affordable so I was thinking diner quality. But that was before I had the cleanest, lightest tasting catfish I’ve had since catching my own as a kid, on a beautiful roll with crisp lettuce and delicious tomato slices! (The Natural River Fish Sandwich). And I loved the breading, not too much, not too little, just perfection. Sort of hush puppy-esque? I’m no expert. Also I think the fries were beer battered? They were equally top notch. My companions were pleased as well with the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap and a Rueben Sandwich on marble rye. The only disappointment for me was the pickles, although they were nice enough for the sandwich - I wouldn’t have them on their own. All in all, I can’t wait to eat here again on my next...
Read moreAfter a nice hike to see the natural bridge, my family and I worked up an appetite and decided to have lunch here. We saw good reviews left by many people so we thought it would be a great stop before we headed out to another part of the park. Not sure what the problem l was (perhaps favoritism with locals) but three different groups of people who came AFTER us were sat immediately and got their order in and their food before we did. We waited for 30 minutes to be sat and asked for our order. After another 20 minutes, we had to call the attention of the employees THREE times to ask where our food was because everyone else was getting their food except for us. Then our food gets there and I didn’t even get the order I requested. Wait but it gets better, our waitress gave us the bill WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING (without us asking for it). Very rude. The food was good, but this place had horrible service! Any friend or family member of ours visiting Kentucky will be warned not...
Read moreCame here for lunch, not a lot of people. To navigate can be difficult if first time. So you'd park on the long row of parking spaces. I assume you can enter through the main entrance of the lodge but we entered on the side of the building. Walking down a bit more the drive way, there's a bench & before it is an entrance. You enter & go straight until you see the desk & an open area with tables on the side of the windows.
The food was good, generous for the price. A nice view & bird feeder if seated there by the waitress. Top picture is pork chop that comes with chowder & a biscuit. Got a side of coleslaw & fries. I don't remember what the egg option was called, if I remember I'll edit it. Got starters of quesadillas which comes...
