If I could give a negative star review I would unfortunately I have to give a one star first of all the front desk guy the night of our stay gave us a room key on the second floor gave us room 203 we were tired from a long drive it was 12 in the morning and we were exhausted we go to the room that was given to us we opened the door and there was a old guy sleeping in the room we go down stairs to tell the front desk asked if we were sure someone was in there I wanted to scream at that point why in the world would we go down down stairs and make that up the guy said there shouldn't be there anyone in there I assured him there was a older guy in there sleeping with all of his stuff on the counter he said would you like a different room we said yes cause we were exhausted and asked him to go with us and open the next door cause I didn't know what we would be walking into next thank God that room was not occupied it is scary that they don't know when people are occupying a room it's like what if they had a gun we could have been shot and just last week someone there was arrested for Having a gun we end up staying at the hotel in the new room it was a very uncomfortable night I used the door look bur still not knowing if someone ws going to get a key to our room made the stay unpleasant we told the manager in the morning about what happened and they acted as if it was no big deal so I talked to customer service and they reached out to the hotel was told that the hotel was giving us a refund which was a lie they lied to me to ihg hotels customer service saying that they would not give a refund because they accommodated us with a different room like are you kidding me you accommodated us with a different room after a huge mistake that could have put my wifes and my life in danger this hotel is a absolute joke if you don't mind some stranger walking into your room at any hour of the day or night then this is the place for you but if your wanting to feel like your in a safe hotel pick somewhere else to stay cause no one should ever have to deal with anything like that ever I think the manager and gm should be fired and they should get a new owner with the service they provide I will be having my attorney contact them if they don't make things right with us I would never recommend this hotel to anyone and would advise everyone to stay somewhere else if your staying in Corning California I don't like writing bad reviews but people should know how this hotel operates and the potential danger they put people in so if your taking your loved ones to a hotel avoid this one at all cost I would never want anyone to ever go through what me and my wife went through on our stay there I also feel horrible for the old guy whose room we walked into he shouldn't have has to deal with that either at this point I wish I would have just continued...

Our check in experience was alright, although the employee was busy attempting to send a fax, and not having much success, as we waited and waited for assistance. She did acknowledge our presence, but no one else was there to assist. Once she was with us, things went smoothly.
We enjoy staying at HIE because they are comfortable, clean and have very good breakfast. As soon as we got to,our room, I realized this time would be different!
Our room, 421, a king bed suite, met our request for top floor, away from the elevator. However, the experience began falling short from there. Upon examining the room, I found the small light colored sofa in a filthy condition. There were stains and just general soiling on the cushions, arms and back. We even checked the underside of the cushions, hoping to find a clean spot, but it was just as bad on the underside. We made our concern known to the front desk. The head of housekeeping was contacted and we were assigned a new room. The housekeeping supervisor told us she was already aware of the dirty sofa, but could not give an explanation why she would allow the room to be marked as ready for occupancy. In fact as we were moving our things out of the room, she was tidying up and flushing the toilet, as if refreshing the room, getting it ready to be rented again as soon as we vacated.
The new room, 203, had a sofa which appeared in better condition, as it was a darker color, but we opted to not sit on it, just because of the condition of the previous one. This room appeared cleaner, but was still not in the best of condition. The sink drain plug did not function, requiring you to reach underneath the sink and manually move the drain plug. The walls were spot painted in a different color, which gave us the appearance of general poor room care.
This one unfortunate experience will not keep us from future HIE stays. We will just avoid this particular one. We have spent 6 nights in HIE rooms over the past three weeks and all, except this one, have been very good...
Read moreI have never had a negative experience with the Holiday Inn... until now. This is the first time I have ever been truly disappointed with my stay. The facility was under renovation, which was not really a big deal. The lobby looked great and the room appeared nice. There were a few minor issues like a hole in the wall of our bathroom for wire access and some loose wires under the air conditioner that I easily overlooked. Things went downhill from there. We had a sleeper sofa in our room that looked new but wouldn't open into a bed like it was supposed to. We called the lobby but the receptionist said there were lots of guests calling in about the same problem but she didn't know how to fix it. My husband eventually figured out that there were security straps that actually needed to be cut before the bed could open. Out of courtesy, we called the lobby to let them know we figured it out in case they wanted to send someone up so they would know for other guests. A few minutes later, there was a knock at our door. Thinking it must be somebody from facilities, I opened the door. It was a man who was a guest in the hotel. He stood there awkwardly and explained that the receptionist had sent him to our room. Luckily my husband was there so we did let him in to demonstrate. However, I find it inappropriate for hotel staff to invite guests to other guests' rooms. The last straw was in the pool area. After climbing into the jacuzzi, we noticed there were actually bare exposed wires leading into the water! This is a giant safety concern and code violation. A live wire in the water like this could easily electrocute a guest in the water. We notified hotel reception and were simply told, "Yeah, they're doing some renovations." Not acceptable. I would rather see the jacuzzi blocked off vs open and dangerous. The hotel also seemed understaffed. The staff appeared overwhelmed, undertrained, and uninformed. Please send someone out to repair the jacuzzi asap before someone actually gets hurt. I have never written a negative review before, but I left this hotel feeling...
