Needed a place close to North Rim of Black Canyon at the Gunnison NP after they reopened that side of the park today, and found this incredible inn. Two guest rooms, duplex style, in the small town of Crawford about 30 minutes from the North Rim ranger station. Nathan and Lara have done a great job and are great hosts. Comfortable room with two wing back chairs next to the bed, a compact refrigerator with small top freezer (with mugs inside if you want a frosty mug!), microwave, cutlery and bowls/plates, a Keurig and a kettle, and plenty of coffee pods and tea. Bathroom is well appointed and perfectly sized. Across the street is a restaurant (Northfork Boardwalk) with mostly salads and sandwiches/burgers on the menu but with nightly buffet which is different each day (eg, Taco Tuesday). In the back of the restaurant, behind swinging doors, is a bar. Next door to the inn is the Lazy J coffee shop which is open 7am to 6pm and has breakfast items in addition to any kind of coffee drink, pastries, and refrigerated drinks (including beer and wine) for sale. Great little place. This place was ideal for us, and we would have stayed more than one night if we'd planned more than one day at the park. Great job, Nathan and Lara.

What an excellent place to stay the night! We stayed one night in the Stone Studio while we explored Black Canyon National Park. The check in and check out process fit our schedule perfectly! No coordinating with a host or front desk, just drop in when you arrive and leave when you need to. We were greeted with a couple very tasty cookies and enjoyed them with a hot mug of tea as we wound down on the patio outside. Parking was easy with the reserved spaces right out front. Thank you for providing such a comfortable and unique place in Crawford. We still need to explore inside the canyon, so we'll be back!

Fantastic little two room boutique hotel in Crawford Colorado. Off the beaten path, but worth the effort. Proprietors are very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Rooms are comfortable for two. Near Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park north rim. But tons of other stuff to do. Only challenge is finding restaurants on Sunday and Monday. Everything else is great. Highly recommended.

This might be the most perfect inn/hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. It has a very nice combination of rustic feel and modern conveniences. Very comfortable bed, comfortable pillows. Modern plumbing, electrical outlets, refrigerator freezer (very quiet), Keurig coffeemaker, electric kettle with a nice selection of coffee and teas. Etcetera. The hosts obviously have taken great care to make it comfortable and to provide everything you might need for your stay.|There's a pretty good restaurant across the street and a great coffee shop about 1/2 block away.|Otherwise, Crawford doesn't have a lot to offer except location: close proximity to the North Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Crawford State Park (hiking and boating), and the cities Hotchkiss and Paonia with wider selections of restaurants and wineries.|The room contains a helpful, well-written and extensive guide to restaurant and coffee shops and points of interest.|The stone house inn is on the main street, aka CO 92, and the interior walls of the Stone House Inn are probably not as well insulated as some modern hotels. This results in some noise although traffic through town is supposed to be 25 mph, so it's not like a freeway out there. We didn't find the noise a deal breaker; your...

Last minute find when the North Rim of Black Canyon of the Gunnison reopened today, July 30. We intended to visit the South Rim last week but had to skip due to closure (wildfires). But while a few hours away over the weekend we found that the NP was opening the North Rim, so we looked for a nearby place to stay for the night before our visit and found Nathan and Lara's Stone House Inn in Crawford, 30 minutes from the North ranger station. Great room, great hosts. Well appointed room with great bed, bathroom, wingback chairs, compact fridge with freezer, microwave, coffee and tea, Keurig and a kettle for hot water. Plates, cups, silverware all provided. We enjoyed our night before the park visit. Northfork Boardwalk restaurant is across the street, open from breakfast through dinner (10pm close, I think). Lazy J coffee shop for breakfast, coffee, cold drinks (including bottles/cans of beer and wine for takeout) is open 7am to 6pm. Nothing really to do in town, it's very small, but the Sone House Inn was great. For more food options there are towns 10-20 minutes away, and Montrose (even bigger) is about 45 minutes away. But for us, or for a few nights, this place...
