We had lower expectations because we had never been here beforeā¦there were some good and bad things, I will share both with you.
The good:
Itās easy to find, the price is ok, the rooms were clean and nice.
The bad:
I read through the emails they sent me several times and there was no mention of a room number or what to do when we arrived. When we actually pulled into the property we drove over to the office/store/gas station area and the door was open but no one was there. We knocked and called out but no one answered. We tried getting on the Wi-Fi and messaging them but we got no response for over two hours.
We finally just went over to the rooms and let ourselves into one of them. We drive over an hour to Stanley to find a restaurant. When we drive back we decided to get into the private hot tub. It really offered little to no privacy. The adjoining units are separated by only a slat wooden fence, which you could see through and easily hear. We were trying to have a romantic get away for our anniversary and we decided to take our chances inside the room.
When we got back in the room there were people outside the front door knocking and trying to get in. Like..we are literally naked from the hot tub and walk into are room and there are headlights shining in the window (no drapes) and people trying to get into our room.
The owner texts me back finally (2+ hours later) telling me Iām supposed to be in a different room.
We were soooo uncomfortable. We were nervous/afraid someone was going to come in. We definitely were not relaxing and enjoying our trip.
The hot tub outside was gross and not private. Bugs and weeds in itā¦felt slimy. no communication from staffā¦never saw or talked to a single person from Haven hot springs, other than. 2 hour later response telling me I was supposed to be in room 2.
We hardly slept. Got up super early and left. We didnāt even stay for the big pool time we had reserved.
Iām not trying to get my money backā¦just want people to know that I had a confusing, nerve wracking time and was un happy with this trip.
Maybe some people appreciate a sort of laisĀ·sez-faire approach to things. But not me.
Iām adding to this. You can see the owners response below. They are correct. There apparently is a #2 in front of the date. But it doesnāt tell you that is your room number. I guess you are supposed to know that #2 means room 2. When I get the emailā¦how would I know that? For all I know the rooms are A. B. C. Etc. you canāt just put a #2 the the subject line of an email and expect people to drive hours to your facility, not answer the phone, not respond to their texts and then blame them for not knowing what the #2 meant.
You know what would have clarified this whole issue? If you had been onsite, if you had answered the phone, if you had responded to the text, or⦠simply put in the message YOU ARE IN ROOM NUMBER 2.
Your āroom numberā in the email is cryptic at best. Iām not the first person to experience thisā¦read the other reviews.
Iām telling you now. Itās confusing. Fix it.
And yesā¦thatās why people book a private hot springs to bathe and relax in the nude.
Youāre trying to say Iām not prepared? Iāve got people banging on my door and my wife and I were terrified.
Yes folks, they are rightā¦there are mini blinds. Try to have some privacy with people standing outside your window with mini blinds. No curtains to drawā¦people can literally see inside and see shapes and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe loved our relaxing weekend away and will be back to visit again. This is a no frills type of place, basically a bed to sleep in and pool to soak in. We arrived a little after 4pm and were greeted by Ray who was running a little behind and needed about another hour to clean our room. No problem with that, he suggested we head over to lowman inn and have some pizza and beer, which was a great idea! I was starving and the pizza was excellent! Once finished we came back and Ray was just finishing our room. Once we got in the room and settled, we went to go take a dip in our tub which was unbearably hot! So decided to run the cold water hose and go check out the big pool instead. Within 20 minutes our tub was perfect temperature! The rooms have heated floors, but are uncontrolled, it's either on or off, if you like to sleep cold, ask them to turn them off! We had to keep the back door and front window open and ceiling fan on or it easily got to 75 degrees in the room, and it was a rainy windy weekend, high of 50 to 55 and lows in the 40s. Unfortunately the cafe and store were both closed the whole time we were there but luckily I had emailed and found this out before hand or we would have been very unprepared food wise. There were 2 guests that were trying to check in around 6pm and could not get ahold of anyone using the green phone, once we realized it was 2 different couples we told them the 2 rooms that were open and where they could find the key, but they were trying for about an hour or more before we finally realized they needed help. Our second night a few other people were lost and confused and also couldn't reach anyone via the green phone when they had reservations for the big pool and didn't know where to go or what to do. So take note big pool users, walk to the end of the hotel, room 1, keep going to the end of the logs, follow the big path up the hill towards the Christmas lights, enter through gate. Also there's no phone signal, and you can't get the wifi signal in the rooms. So be prepared for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStayed here over the summer and it was unfortunately disappointing. When we arrived, there was no one on the property to check us in. This is a remote area with no cell service - there is a phone next to the (locked & empty) office with wifi password and a number to call. Problem is that wifi doesn't equate to phone service. Tried texting the number in case iMessage would work and it didn't go through. Eventually we walked around the property and found one of the rooms unlocked - beds were made and it seemed set up for guests, with keys inside, so we assumed that must be our room and ended up staying while still trying to get in touch with the owners to no avail. I wouldn't have had a problem with a self check-in process but I wish they had emailed me in advance with instructions. Was never contacted before, during, or after the stay and was never able to get cell service to call, or even wifi to email them myself.
It's a nice setting and the room was just decent enough to be an ok stay but the lack of hospitality & communication was really unsettling.
EDITED TO ADD: The owner replied very passive aggressively and I want to be very clear for all of the people who might book - I did not receive any messages prior to arrival with any check-in instructions. I received 3 messages about payment only. No room number was ever mentioned. Also, the wifi network, while it is theoretically there, did not work at any point during our stay. You can see from their response their attitude to guests, which is very much 'hospitality is not our job...
