If you’re looking for an adventure away from the city, I would highly recommend Kirkham hot springs! It’s just about two hours from my college, and I’ve gone during the winter and summer, both drives being very scenic. The springs are located off the highway, so it can be a bit tricky to spot but there are signs to direct you to the parking lot and campsite.
I also recommend arriving early to secure a good parking spot and a pool, especially since weekends tend to get busy. I believe the best times are from 8am-12pm as during the summer it’s not too hot to be in the hot springs and during the winter it allows you to relax before people start to arrive.
Before you go, there are a couple things to keep in mind: While there are several pools, they typically only fit about 3-5 people, so it’s not ideal for larger groups. The closest pools are about a 3-minute walk from the parking lot and are located in a downward steep hike which can get slippery in the winter, so I definitely recommend wearing sneakers or shoes with a good grip.
Overall, if you’re looking for a winter or summer road trip, Kirkham Hot Springs is...
Read moreWe almost had decided to visit one of those places that had a swimming pool version of hot springs, but saw this location and decided this was the way to go. So very happy we did! The views every which way were amazing which made this spot so special. If you are willing to make the effort to hike down to the river, it is absolutely worth it. There were a lot of people in one area, but I went farther down and found myself my own personal hot spring hole with both the hot water and also the coolness from the river. It was perfect since I could get the heat on my back and shoulders and then feel the coolness on my bottom half. I loved it! Beautiful views and great location, I just wished I lived closer so I could visit there...
Read moreI feel like this would have been better experience if we could bring our fur babies with us. My fiance and I had to split up because we don't like to leave our little one in the car and couldn't stay as long as we wanted. The camphost wouldn't let him take her up the trail to even check it out. There was 10 vehicles there. And 7 outta 10 had to leave our loved ones AZ in our vehicles. All 7 were disappointed. Our baby girl is part of our family. Our kids call her there puppy sister. It's honestly a shame. I could understand more if it were indoors however it is in the...
