One Star for Ulala Culebra is generous.
PROS; The room is big and the air conditioner works well. The cleaning ladies are really nice.
CONS: No employee was available at the guest house to greet us and answer questions.
The owner or manager did not take any calls, they would only respond via text one time. I called, texted, and emailed about the issues we were having and never received a response or remedy.
We did not receive the text with the code to enter our room, the cleaning lady had to let us in.
Our room was double booked. Another patron walked in on us while we were...ahem, in a delicate situation.
The shower water does not heat up. The kitchen and bathroom sinks get warm, but the shower is cold.
The wifi code and password shown on the side of the building is in accurate. We did not have wifi at all during our 3 day trip.
Every time you adjust the temperature or fiddle with the air conditioner, it changes the channel on the tv.
The rooster crowing our window woke us up between 4 and 5 every day.
The lights on the building shown in the windows.
The floor is slippery, whatever type of wax or tile they have is dangerous.
Upon our arrival, guests were leaving because they were issued a small, unfinished room. They had been visiting Ulala for 6 years but will never return because of the horrible service and lacking rooms provided by...
Read moreThe room itself is perfect. Clean, spacious, and modern room with a patio with great view of the sea. It's a bit away from the ferry and the beaches, but not a big deal if you are renting a car.
The major issue is how to get there. The Google map won't take you to the actual location. They have some guidance online on how to get to the actual location from the Google map address, which they called the "entrance." However, the Google map took me to a location that is slightly different from the location where they said the entrance was, so I was unable to follow the guidance they provided initially. I spent more than 30 minutes driving around, almost hit my car during some U-turns, and became very frustrated.
If you plan to stay here, you will need to make sure you read the direction guidance very closely especially the photos of the buildings of the "entrance" (the allegedly Google map address). Drive slowly in the last 500 meters. You will see the buidings of the entrance A BIT EARLIER BEFORE YOU ARRIVED AT THE GOOGLE MAP ADDRRESS, where you can follow a small path to drive uphill to get to the actual location. Hope this helps anyone that plans to stay in the future, but the hotel should really try to find ways to fix the direction issues...
Read moreThe suites were beautiful, clean and conveniently equipped. The building is close to the terminal and to a car rental site, which is nice! However, the owners of the place were extremely rude. We rented two suites for 8 persons, however we ended up having an extra guest (a 6 years old child). We knew that we were going to be charged for this extra guest. On their website they have that they charge $25 for each additional guest, but instead they charged us $50! We were going to pay the additional charge without hesitation because it was our mistake, but the owner literally told us "If you don't like that you can go anywhere else". How convenient! They wanted us to leave after we paid our deposit! Culebra is a very small island, is not like you can find a different place to stay immediately or return to the main island of Puerto Rico that same night. The worst part was that we were with small kids! It was an awful experience and we are definitely not coming back, even if it is a beautiful place with a...
