You can tell by the way the owner has responded that customer service is not a priority. And it is sad that instead of admitting fault in a professional way, they put the blame on me.
First, I displayed no sense of hurry. I sat patiently for 30 minutes after placing my order without saying a word, understanding they were busy. (I also live on an island and understand the culture of island life.) I sat near the counter because the seating elsewhere was full and I did not want to take up a whole table for myself; I was in no hurry.
Second, they did not call my name - they gave me a pager and it never went off. And they admitted that they lost my ticket after I approached the counter (30 minutes and many customers later) to inquire about my order. So, why in his response does he say they called my name and I just ignored it, if in fact they admit they lost my ticket? Further, since I was sitting at the counter and they delivered every other customerās order directly to them; why wouldnāt they have done the same for me?
Finally, I did not order my coffee to go. I was not in a hurry: I ordered it to stay, because I wanted to enjoy my coffee and the place. I did stay for about 10 minutes after getting my order - so there was ample time for the owner to approach me and offer a refund. He acts as if I stormed off, which isnāt true.
But after they made me feel - I just wanted to leave. Will never come back.
My review:
Ordered a single iced coffee that took 30+ minutes because the barista lost the ticket. He apologized for the extremely long wait due to his error, but didnāt offer to make up for it in any way. I was sitting within 5 feet of the counter and the kid who took my order, but he couldnt be bothered to check in on it?
On top of it all, I gave a 25% tip upfront during checkout and the staff didnāt even bother to deliver my delayed drink to me - even as I sat and watched them deliver everyone elseās orders in the cafe. They made me feel like a ghost. Bad experience. Kinda...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf I was dying and granted one last breakfast, Blac Flamingo Coffee is where Iād request. Greeted warmly like and old friend each time we come, even if over a year has past. This is easily my favorite place to go out on Culebra. The freshest ingredients are used, the best bread, and avocado toast that I am sure that the angels in heaven must prepare and hand down to the kitchen staff to serve.
The coffee which I sadly have only been able to taste about a dozen different ones :) are the best coffees, lattes, etc.. you can get anywhere! You will have to come back here to get one another this good.
If you are on Culebra, head on over at about 8:00 and wait outside in the wonderful breeze for them to open at 8:30. You will need that much time to decide between the items on their menu because each is delicate balance of inspiring artisanship and the most wonderful flavors to ever reach your lips.
Lastly, Blac Flamingo gets extra points for being on the friendliest island. Beautiful beaches, wonderful water,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is probably the most aesthetic restaurant in culebra. Newly built and very nicely maintained. The ambience is pretty nice with outdoor seating and some indoor seating. Owner is very friendly and helpful with the menu items. He is passionate about making his coffee and espresso drinks. He offered to make an espresso seltzer drink with a twist of lime. It was the first time I have ever had this drink and it was so good did not even need any sugar. It was a drink made with Seltzer water on top of ice, with a twist of lime topped off with two shots of espresso. It was a refreshing cold coffee drink. The avocado toast was good and the pastrami sandwich was pretty good. They have pretty good almond croissants. They even have vegan baklava and the pistachio flavor as well as the guava. Nice to have this option for people who are vegan or dairy-free. This place gets pretty popular early in the morning until noon and most of the things run out if you don't get...
