My husband decided to book a last minute, quick trip for the weekend in Dahlonega, GA. Of course, it was peak Christmas season for this area. Dahlonega was all decorated for Christmas and worth the 5 1/2 hour drive. There was only 1 room available at Mountain Laurel Creek Inn and Spa, the Garden Room, @ $300+ per night. We stayed for 2 nights. First, let me say that the Inn was quaint and cozy. The included breakfast was also good. Now to comment on the room and customer service. When we checked-in, we were told that no one would be there after 5:30pm but that if we needed anything to text the Inn as those messages go directly to one of the owners, who lives on site, and can be back at the Inn in just a few minutes. She showed us to our room, the Garden Room. As we walked down the hallway to the room, my husband and I both noticed that it smelled of cat spray. The room was clean but the decor was eclectic and not in a good way. There were no photos of the shower and we discovered why. It was very, very small (camper style small). The queen size bed also had a soft mattress, not comfortable for someone used to a firm mattress. After having breakfast, my husband asked about fresh towels for the room. He was told that housekeeping would replenish the towels and tidy up the room. We left to explore Dahlonega for the day and forgot to remove the Do Not Disturb sign from the door. When we returned to the room at 7pm, we texted the owners and requested fresh towels. Remember, when we checked in the young lady said if we needed anything to text the owners and they would be there in a matter of minutes. Well, our response was that they would be unable to get us fresh towels until in the morning before breakfast. The owner also said that he noticed our Do Not Disturb sign was on the door all day. Here's where I'm confused. If you are the owner of an Inn and you know a guest has made a request for fresh towels and you noticed that the Do Not Disturb sign was left on the door all day (you were monitoring the door), then wouldn't you assume that it was left on the door in error and try to get towels delivered to the room. Maybe place a plastic bag at the door with fresh towels inside. I've had other hotels do this for me and don't forget I'm paying $300+ a night for your room and service. After my husband replied back to the owner's text and apologized for the mistake and stated fresh towels the next morning would be fine, there was no reply back as to what time we could expect the towels. To our disappointment, we woke up the next morning and had to text the owners again for our towels. When the owner (yes, one of the owners) delivered the towels to our room and handed them to my husband, he said nothing to my husband...nothing. This was not the service that I would have expected to receive...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I visited over the July 4th holiday weekend in 2013. When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner, who was congenial and informative. He took the time to show us around the house before leading us to our room, which was right off the pool area. I've never seen extravagance in a B&B of the kind I experienced when I stepped through the door. A heady, clean smell assaulted my senses and put me right at ease. Furnishings and decor reeked of taste and the toiletries and linens were the best of the best. It looked and felt like a five-star hotel but with more space and a more comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.
The bed was soft, warm, and cozy. Pillows were as fluffy as marshmallows and my head was cradled all night by their motherly embrace. Sheets that were softer than a chinchilla's fur stroked my skin and kept me in a realm of contentment as I slumbered.
Getting in the jacuzzi tub was an exercise in relaxation. Water was nice and hot, jets were powerful, and the soap smelled heavenly. After a long bath, you're invited to wrap yourself in large, thirsty towels and to lounge in a robe that, I guarantee, will be the softest you've ever had on your body. We were there for a number of days and I had the opportunity to try out the shower as well. Dispensers prevent the juggling of tiny bottles of shampoo and soap, and the concoction inside will leave your skin feeling like it's been pampered for weeks by a professional. Water pressure was spot on and I found myself not wanting to get out.
Their pool is heated and there's not a drop of chlorine to be found. It did wonders for my skin and hair. I hadn't felt so wrapped in luxury in a long while.
Seeing as this is a bed and breakfast, I think it's time to go into the food! Breakfast was brought to the table and served; unlike many others where it's buffet style. Each table had a gorgeous place setting and fresh flowers. I'm not keen on sitting with people I don't know and this B&B offers the perfect amount of separation between guests. You can talk to the folks at the table next to you without screaming, but you aren't forced to mingle if you don't want to. I'm a foodie at heart, and the fare prepared by the hosts was some of the most delicious I've ever put in my mouth. I've eaten at many five-star restaurants, and the Mountain Laurel Creek Inn was an experience in cuisine that could only be described as perfection.
If you're looking for a secluded getaway, you've stumbled on the right place! I can't say enough about the experience, and you can bet I'll be back again and again.
While we didn't get to try out the spa on our visit, I'm looking forward to taking advantage of that service in the future. If it's anything close to the quality of the room and food, I'm positive...
Read moreWhile visiting family in Georgia for a week, my husband and I decided to get away for a night by ourselves at this quaint Bed and Breakfast and are we glad we did! We were greeted almost immediately by Stuart, one of the owners, and he made us feel so welcome by showing us all the amenities the Inn had to offer and finally to our stunning room with a fireplace, jacuzzi whirlpool bathtub and cute little balcony overlooking the pool. The room was tastefully decorated with luxurious linens, a nice seating area in front of the fireplace, comfy sofa, coffee station, mini fudge and high end toiletries providing us with a very tranquil and peaceful experience. We enjoyed walking through the lovely flowering gardens, sitting on the porch rockers with a glass of vino and thought about lighting a fire at the fire pit but decided to wait until our next visit. The breakfast prepared by Stuart the next morning was absolutely delicious and was accompanied with fresh juices, tea and coffee. We met, Scott, the other owner, while enjoying our breakfast and struck up a pleasant conversation with him about our travels to Georgia while learning about an upcoming trip they had planned to the Netherlands. The dining area was so charming with comfortable setees and chairs overlooking the beautiful property. These two have spared no expense in creating an atmosphere to make you feel like your a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of life and feeling relaxed, rested, and rejuvenated by the time you depart. Thank you again, Stuart and Scott, for an amazing experience. We can’t wait to return for a longer stay with you next time...
