Room was cleaner than expected and decent for price.
The air had been off for some time so, it took 4 or so hours to cool it off once we got there. Hotel is located on a very busy street; we even heard a wreck and a couple of near misses. I woke up around 130 am to a couple screaming at each other so, that was nice... the walls are super thin. The stairwells (all of them) need a good powerwash. Parking was inadequate for how many rooms there are. Grounds were surprisingly clean but everywhere near and inside the office smelled strongly of Indian food. The bed was super clean and comfy to me, but not to my daughter (I prefer hard beds), Needs more pillows; one each is not enough. I was surprised to see not one but two! USBs right beside the bed, that was pretty awesome. The only flaw on the bed was a scuff on the headboard; not even dust behind! The staff was decent. I'm guessing they have no actual employees, just a large family that handles housekeeping, office and property management. We didn't use the shower, microwave, iron or fridge but they all looked extremely clean and well-kept. Not a horrible place for an adult needing a cheap sleep but I don't recommend kids since it's in a sketchy area. Several bars, liquor stores and vagrants of all types close to this hotel. There is a DART stop right outside the gate, as well so, it is convenient if you're bussing anywhere. Location was great to be close to downtown but it's closer to a pretty undesirable area (hence the $100 price compared to hotels less than a mile away at $150
Read moreI'm an experienced traveler and I have stayed in many unfortunate accommodations around the world, so it surprises me that the ultimate answer to "I really need a place to stay--how bad could this place be?" is the Palace Suites in Dallas, Texas. It is the worst hotel experience of my life. ||||There are lots of miserable things about this hotel: it is squalid; it is clearly a place to bring prostitutes; the staff at the front desk are the traveler-nemesis holy trinity of unhelpful, unintelligible, and unconcerned; the lock on our room had been broken off; the smoke alarm was missing; the towels were not clean; the floor was not safe for bare feet; and the blanket on the bed had obviously not been laundered this decade, but was it was still less suspicious than the sheets. While no one of these is rare to find in an in-a-pinch hotel, only the most loathsome hotels that have true contempt for their guests exhibit all of these traits. ||||All of the above would make the Palace Suites one of the worst places I have stayed in my life, but my discovery upon moving the nightstand to find a plug for my charger solidified its rank as the worst. When I moved the nightstand I found a USED CONDOM, a POST-VAGINAL TAMPON, and a box cutter knife THAT APPEARED TO HAVE BLOOD STAINS ON IT (see attached picture). These are biohazards as well as court-admissible evidence! Yet, unbelievably, the desk was still unresponsive and would not refund my money. ||||So, we stayed an uneasy night in a crime scene. On the plus side, at least the Mexican restaurant next door has great...
Read moreAlthough it is a 1 star hotel, it should be more of a 3 star, the amenities are more than decent and actually work than most motels actually advertise and or claim. The price is a little high...BUT......it is very clean and the bed is comfy, management has come a long way, the slightly higher price, I feel, is due to the improving dwelling area for anyone who just wants cool A/C and a clean room to relax in after a hot long travel day, that will be much appreciated, and for some of the clientele/neighborly neighbors that comes in to utilize these rooms, can be a little vocal but there's no Drama or crime...the staff understand and know how to deal with it pretty well....of that I have witnessed during my stay, everyone minds their own business and the "vocal opera" stops after about 15-20 mins lol. The owners/ managment are very helpful and pleaseant to speak with. BUT I wouldn't recommend young children or young teenagers without being accompanied by BOTH parents to stay here for more than a couple days. I think the price, service and cleanliness desreves to be noticed in an area such as this one. No one bothers you and you don't bother them........equals a peaceful stay. :) I believe the owners/ family are of indian race and are by far the most respectful and polite people I have come across....
