Spirit Mountain Hotel. Hmmm. Not impressed. Not awful. The staff members were friendly and helpful. When I walked into the room I thought "nice room". I liked the decor but later found things wrong. The bathroom air vent was FILTHY. I mean as in covered in dark gray crud. It could be partially caused by the construction that was going on in the lobby area. Still......
We had a ground floor and the drapes do not cover all the windows. Even combined with the sheers. No privacy. We went to the desk and were advised "there is a pull down shade". but there was nothing to give us a hint of that. The drapes were slidable on a rail so therefore we thought they SHOULD cover all the windows. Apparently someone else had the same problem as one drape end had been pulled off the track.
And...no table. We had brought back food from their "cafe", as the nice restaurant is closed on Tuesday, the day we were there. It certainly is not a cafe in my opinion. No waitress, it might as well have been a fast food restaurant. In fact I referred to it as "the food court, while the hotel employee called it "the cafe". No table in the room means we would have had to sit separately to eat. Also, we had taken a cribbage board and had no place to play. We got the ironing board out of the closet and we used that as a table. And while there was a small refrigerator, there was no microwave for our leftovers. AND not even a "grab and go" breakfast? Though the in room coffee was good.
They do have quality bed linens and towels. Also the real glass glasses next to the ice bucket were very nice. The food we brought back, a BLT and tasty fries, were a good value for $8. And the room...
Read moreWell I must first admit I stayed for a different reason than most.(work related) Im not one who gambles, and I rarely drink... so I was board and had nothing to do after work. There's no pool or jacuzzi so swimming or soaking my tired muscles was out. Although there is a nice area outside where a pool would be if they had one. Also there's no Buffet except for on the weekends.. But at $65.00 per person I doubt I would have eaten there anyway. I can't tell you anything about the casino because I didn't go in. The staff I encountered were friendly enough... well with the exception of the gal who checked me in. I felt like she didn't approve of my being there. To admit I had been working all day and was still dressed in my dirty work close and was wearing my safety vest. When she first checked her computer to find my reservation she she told me there was nothing in her computer. I said that that was funny because the room was booked for the entire week. Eventually she found it. Then she began looking at the available rooms and would say. .." no.. not that one or that one. Eventually she stated.. This one should work. Now this was on a Monday night and there weren't many cars in the lot. And she put me in a room facing an empty parking on the side of the was building. So feeling like a 3rd or 4th class...
Read moreVery comfortable hotel with a great staff. I was there for a conference so I'm not sure how others would come to stay here except for the casino. I have no interest in a casino so I can only speak about the hotel and the conference center attached. My double queen bed room was roomy and the beds and chairs were comfortable. Fine view. The bathroom was huge with plenty of counter space and a lighted, reg/magnified mirror! The section I was in had 4 elevators that were fast! Because it's a casino hotel you have to park a ways away from the only entrance and it's quite a walk from the hotel portion to the casino or conference rooms. (Not necessarily a bad thing.) Beware the only restaurants are within the casino so no one under 21 except for a small coffee shop. Also, sit down breakfast doesn't start until 8 am. Most of the restaurants are food court style fast food places. (Not chains though.) This hotel is only 30 minutes from Lincoln City and it's a nice trip to the coast. 30 minutes to McMinnville in the other direction. And very little in between. Great pizza place in tiny Willamena not too far away. ...
