The Holbrook was a wonderful stay.
We booked a room at a very late hour during a long haul from MD to SC. In spite of this, the woman at the front desk was very pleasant and check in was a breeze. Free onsite parking was also a welcome feature.
The property itself was fantastic. It is a little odd looking from the outside (it is reminiscent of a schoolhouse—apparently it used to be a medical office building) but the interior decor is cohesive, clean, and warm. I was very impressed by the overall upkeep of the shared/public areas. We had no complaints when it came to our room either. The linens, pillows, and mattress were probably the most comfortable that I had ever experienced at any hotel or Airbnb. There was a kitchenette with various appliances for convenience. The bathroom was very clean, and the toiletries were pleasant enough.
It was also very quiet. I’m not sure how many others were staying at the Holbrook that night, but we really couldn’t hear a thing outside our room. Road noise was a nonissue.
This property does not have a ton of amenities (for example, no onsite breakfast or fitness room), but they make up for it in other ways. Our booking included 2 vouchers for a breakfast at Crema and Vine (valued at $10 or less), which was right across the street. Their breakfast offerings were pretty mid/basic, but it’s nice to nosh on something fresh and warm. I also saw on the website that guests can visit a sister hotel’s gym.
Overall, a great stay for good value. We’re glad we took a chance on a smaller boutique hotel, over the other chain stays in the area. If we ever find ourselves back in Danville, we’ll be sure to book...
Read moreWe arrived on April 1. My husband was here on business and I got to come along. When we arrived we were a bit taken back at what looked like an office building. Check in was no problem and as soon as we entered you could tell the place was immaculate. It smelled as clean as it looked from the floor to the elevator. Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was huge. A kitchenette complete with a dishwasher. The bathroom was very large with 2 sinks and a heated floor. The bed was king sized with fresh sheets and a comfortable mattress. There was a restaurant directly across the hotel that sold coffee and sandwiches and pizza and wine at night. Also a small store down the street that sold boxed lunches. There was an art museum across the street also you could walk too. Everyone we came in contact with at the hotel was nice and friendly and helpful. When coming back to the area again we will definitely stay again. It was a very nice pleasant experience and looking forward to...
Read moreWe were looking for a hotel near the casino in Danville, without premium casino prices and hit the jackpot with The Holbrook. The location was perfect - close to the casino, and great food very close by. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the price, but when we walked through the door, I knew we made the right decision. This historic mid-mod building was once a doctors office, but has been remodeled into a great boutique hotel. It reminded me of my elementary school with a fresh coat of paint and welcoming interior. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Then we got to our room! I was pleasantly surprised at the modern kitchenette with a full sink! The bathroom was modern with sleek tile and finishings. I loved that it had a pocket door. The bed was super comfortable and we appreciated the instructions for using the smart tv. The whole place felt brand new and well-loved. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and will absolutely...
