WOW! Embarrassingly bad customer service. We came back here to give this restaurant a second chance after reading the owner's response to my previous review in March. We arrived just before 7PM on Tuesday July 12 and were seated immediately. We then waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for our food, which never came. After literally 100 minutes of waiting, with the waitress ignoring us, I asked the waitress what was going on, and how much longer would our food be? She said that she had just checked on it and it wouldn't be coming soon - our ticket was "somewhere in the middle" of the list of orders. We could not wait anymore; 1 hour and 40 minutes is completely inexcusable and utterly frustrating. We had to go home. The waitress brought the bill, we paid for our appetizers and one unsweetened tea, and left.
There were so many opportunities here to resolve the situation, and this restaurant chose NONE of them. The waitress could have brought us some bread while we waited, she could have brought our salads, she could have talked to us and kept us informed. Never once did the manager come over to talk to us or apologize and provide some customer service. Instead, the waitress just shrugged and charged us full price for our apps and one tea. After all of that waiting, that small bill should have been comped. But instead the waitress charged us full price for the terrible experience, got her 20% tip, and we went home, hungry and frustrated. At that stage, it was nearly 9PM, so there really was no option to dine somewhere else. We went to bed without dinner. Thanks, King Cropp! Not only will we never come back here, but we'll be sure to spread the story of our terrible experience here. Really, this is just bad, flippantly non-caring customer service.
1st Review in March 2022: Lovely place, excellent service, and really wanted to like the food but it's extremely salty. The ingredients are fresh and high quality, but it's...
Read moreWe went to Kings Crop on Saturday for Flo's birthday with the kids. She had the fried chicken with sauce an cheddar/broccoli soup. I had blackened catfish with Mac and cheese with garden salad. Now weve eating with them on several occasions and had terrific meals but unfortunately tonight was not one of them. First they sat us in the bar room, where the noise was intolerable, an people were standing all around our table talking an drinking, I had to go to the restroom and had to ask individuals to move and let me through going an coming, on top of that they were irritated that they had to move to let me buy. They're fortunate I didn't open my mouth and give him a piece of my mind. And as for the food, you chicken breast my wife had was playing and simple and nothing special, the chair and broccoli soup was loaded with salt someone probably dropped the salt shaker in it. Being a CKD patient she could not tolerate that much salt, and ended up being pretty well nothing for her to eat except for the appetizer. Retrospect the appetizer was eggs and they were excellent as usual. As for my meal, the blackened catfish was basically fish over peppered and grilled. The lemon butter sauce on the side didn't do anything for it and the fish have no basic flavor. The garden salad and every kind of green leaf except for lettuce and very little of other garden vegetables. The mac and cheese was the best part of the meal. Recently we posted a dinner we had at razzoo's in Concord and I had the black and catfish there. King's crops could not hold a candle to it. Now these customer service was nice no complaints there just very disappointed in our meal considering it was a special occasion. Will probably go back again and give it another shot but dare say I will never set foot in their bar room again if they want to sit me there I will leave...
Read moreWhat a privilege to enjoy such wonderfully prepared food served by an incredible serving staff managed by a quick, intelligent and responsible manager. I assume D’Arcy was the manager but could very well be the owner. Come to think of it, each person in the chain could have been the owner based on the ownership and pride in each of their roles.
The care, quality, service and attention were on par with any great restaurant I’ve enjoyed all over the world.
The menu was diverse, interesting and well thought out. The special seemed amazing, so much so that it sold out. Kate our server remarked my enthusiasm when ordering the special that had at that very moment sold out. Instead of mailing in some disingenuous apology D’Arcy came to introduce herself. A hysterical conversation ensued and I decided for D’Arcy to choose my substitute.
What a great meal! Each part was balanced in flavour and complimentary to the other.
We had perfectly battered pickles that were not hidden in breading to start.
My friend had the meatloaf that was greatly appreciated. I ended up with the pulled pork with Mac n cheese, some sort of bean thing with green onions. Each part was perfectly prepared and flavourful with out being over done.
I strongly recommend King Cropp Kitchen.
Oh I almost forgot, I happened to notice a plate of fries go by and couldn’t help asking to try one that may have fallen out of a plate in the kitchen.
They did not disappoint, I hope I can add the picture I took of what they brought me fresh from the kitchen. Absolutely memorable.
Thank...
