De Soto Riverview Cabins — Hotel in De Soto

I would not book here. When we arrived the air conditioner was not working. We contacted the host through AirBNB at 5:24 pm and she did not respond so I call her at 5:44 pm and she did state someone would be there to look at it. She stated the air conditioner was brand new. I told her there was no way this air conditioner is new. It looked beat up. The maintenance guys did not come until 7:30 pm to check and replaced the air conditioner. I have a serious medical condition and really needed air. We also had our dogs with us and one of my dogs has a collapsed trachea and could barley breathe as it was so hot. The host did allow us to sit in another dirty, just checked out cabin to allow us some air after the 2 hour wait. After this was all done, we went to go eat dinner but then the door would not lock. I called the host back and they gave me multiple numbers but still the door would not lock. They said maintenance would have to come back. I was not happy at this point. We still have not eaten. We were not comfortable with leaving our belongings without the cabin being locked. We now also wasted a full day of our vacation on waiting for things to be fixed that should have already been in working condition. That is not even the worst part, she then publicly slanders me by putting a review stating maybe if I did not drink Vodka all of this would not have happened as it probably clouded my judgement. Unbelievable, yes Vodka caused the air conditioner to break. She does not know me and she was not in the cabin so I find that very offensive which I will be speaking to an attorney. Lastly, I do not drink as I stated I have a serious medical condition and I value my life more! Beware! Terrible...

We rented the house instead of the cabins due to availability and it was wonderful. For 5 days total, the house could sleep what I counted as almost 10 people!! And for a great price as well! On the Mississippi and close to walking distance of 3 local bars and a short driving distance to local restaurants. We came here for fishing on the local barge and to entertain the kids with nature on the weekend of a 5 day stay total. The town itself is quiet but it is conveniently located by Minnesota, Iowa, and La Crosse. The renters were helpful and responded to texts for any questions we had....

Small town charm. Cabins are well maintained and comfortable. Well worth the 5 hour travel and the money. The river is within view and close to excellent bars and restaurants. The owner Will made sure we knew where to park our boats and had the best information on local fishing spots. I have never felt more appreciated as a patron. I left my wallet and my husband left his $250 fishing pole there and didn't realize it until we were an hour from home. Will mailed the items with a thank you note and we received them 4 days later.
