4 Rivers Realty — Local services in De Soto

Beware of Secluded Land Company and Four Rivers Realty. The only reason I gave any stars to this group is because Eric Ristey was such a nice guy to deal with. But for your own piece of mind, ensure you have a recourse for their survey errors. We paid 75k for 4.21 acre property and within months was called back by 4 Rivers and Secluded Land and told us they made a "survey mistake" but what they showed us didn't change. We found out later our lot was reduced to 3.62 acres. There was no refund of the land we lost with the new survey. 4 Rivers and Secluded land knew my best friend and I were naive about properties. We recently built on the property and discovered that some of the 'changes' they made to the surveyed land was to reduce the view we thought we had as we no longer own the trees we thought we owned. The subsequent change has caused issues with taxes and with building than we realized. Ensure you understand completely where your lot lines are and if they come to you regarding a survey/lot line mistake, make them show you all over again. I sure wish we had. In 2006 we looked for land along the Mighty Mississippi. We found 4 Rivers Realty and most importantly Eric Ristey. We saw several properties and fell in love with one on De Soto Bluffs. The very day we were to close, I was "downsized." Eric and 4 Rivers could not have been more supportive and without even a question said they would give my deposit back. Move ahead to 2008 and we sought out Eric and bought lot 13 in Genoa Heights for a good price.

Fast forward to 2020. Things change and we decided to sell same. Again we contacted Eric and he put all his resources to work. He had several inquiries including a young gentleman, who because of Covid was laid off. Eric took it in stride, and a week later was contacted by a lady, showed our land and sold it for asking price. I cannot say enough good things about Eric. You can trust him! Len Swestka
