J & R Military Surplus — Local services in De Soto

Prices have gone way up in recent months - it’s now possible to get many of the same items new for the same price. Also, the owner used to be very friendly & helpful when I would come in with my partner. We would look forward to having a little chat with him when we’d come in. However, the tone and vibe in the shop has totally changed recently - he now only scowls or ignores us. Can’t help but wonder if we are being profiled / discriminated in some way for being different. The change in behavior has correlated with an increase of far-right messaging around the shop. Used to feel like a comfy, friendly spot for all - maybe no longer the case for queer & other marginalized...

Great place to shop. If your looking for those one of a kind items this is a place to be. The staff at J&R are fabulous they are always willing to lend a hand and or answer question. I purchased a military style winter coat from them and it's the best purchase ever. I get cold so easily and this coat was rated -30 degrees. It was perfect for the cold nights in Wisconsin. I've also purchase other items from them and they always stand by there product for quality. I always shop here when I get in the area for you never know what new items...

Armed services second hand store. Tons of military clothes, rank badges/patches, shoes, outerwear (even some underwear), small selection of knives, a couple parachutes. There was also various camping supplies and some MRE's. Either they get regular shipments or we came on a special day. (There was a big pile of clothes on the floor.)
