June 2022. Stayed here because it’s pet friendly and I’m traveling with 2 dogs. The pet fee was $10 for my stay (only one day). There is a pet area outside with waste bags, but there is construction currently going on so there’s also debris from that. The pool area looks super fun especially for kids, it’s a mini water park type set up. The casino is in the same building as the hotel and there’s also a restaurant inside. Since it’s a bit out of the mains st historical area, there is a trolley that stops by every 30-ish minutes. The cost for the trolley is $2 cash and you need exact change, which the hotel was able to break a bill for me. The place is pretty big. Parking is open (no height restrictions) and no pass is needed, also there’s no additional fee. Although, overall good, the room itself was not really clean. There was hair everywhere, towels, bed, pillows, sofa chair. Not sure if they have specific “pet friendly” rooms, but this room had a mix of pet hair and people hair (see pictures). There’s a magnifying mirror in the bathroom that looks like it hasn’t been cleaned a while (see picture). It seems that cleaning is at a surface level. The rate at the time of my stay was $339 with additional charges, mostly taxes, the final bill was $395. $395 for a room with mediocre cleaning is a bit steep. Staff was friendly, but the room was disappointing.

We were on the way back from MT to MS and found this slice of heaven. We are traveling with our fur baby. She was not only allowed but greeted happily by everyone guests and staff. She was given a welcome bag including treats. There is plenty of space for her to walk around. The beds are super comfortable and room was very clean. I’m in hospitality and normally critical but had no issues here. Great hot water in shower. Tried out the hot tub but didn’t stay long since by the kiddie pool it was loud but felt great. We got to see the Big Horn Sheep visiting the property. Only draw back was service from hostess at Sportsbook. I placed a to go order and told her I would be waiting in hall. I checked back after a while and said it wasn’t ready yet and would call my name when ready. I checked back and she said she forgot and order had been ready. Cold pizza by the time I took it back to the room. Not bad if that’s the worst of the stay. Definitely recommend the Lodge to everyone.

Called and reserved two deluxe queen rooms due to the amount of children and adults we had for our family vacation, and requested they be next door as they don't have connecting rooms. They messed up and only reserved one room causing a slight headache when we arrived; however they finally found two rooms and we checked in. Since we were on vacation and had a lot planned, we dropped off our luggage and went on sight seeing. We got back to the hotel late in the evening, exhausted and ready for bed. We pulled open the hide-a-bed which had sheets on it only to find MICE POOP/PEE all over it! DISGUSTING! We call down to let the front desk know and they state they will deal with it tomorrow. We open the hide-a-bed in the other room - it is not made and also has small stains all over it. So we have to now put more people together in the regular beds as the hide-a-beds are unusable even though we paid extra for them. 1st thing the next morning we tell the front desk again about the issue. They state that they cannot give discounts because we paid cash, (Seriously?) so they give us a coupon for $50 off breakfast. We go to have breakfast (there is no complimentary breakfast even though you pay over $200/room/night!?!?) and guess what, it takes forever to get our breakfast and when we finally do get our food, it is cold. We advise the waitress that the food is cold, she states she can 'toss it in the microwave.' (Don't hurt yourself sweetheart.) After breakfast we checked in with the front desk to see the status of the mice poop cleanup. Front desk advises us that they have to switch out the room that had the mice poop but not the other room. They then go on to tell us that they can't give us a new room, or keys to a new room until we check out of the room with mice poop and they get their keys back. They seriously expected us to go pack up all of our belongings and then come checkout so they could redo the reservation! ABSOLUTELY NOT HAPPENING! I had my oldest son prop the door open and stay in the room so we could turn in the 'sacred keys' to get a new room. (Seriously how difficult can you make this?) Once we got the new room, we checked the hide-a-bed to verify no mouse poop... It was also not made but at least there was no poop. We transfered all our belongings from the poop room to the no-poop room and thought this was the end of the problem. GUESS AGAIN! While out and about trying to enjoy our vacation we get a phone call from a maintenance man saying he is in our room and we still have belongings in the room. He describes the belongings and we attempt multiple times to explain to him that he is in the 2nd of our two room reservation - this is the room with the mouse pee stains but no poop and the lodge only had us vacate the room with mouse poop. While giving the maintenance man the room numbers and explaining that he is in the wrong room, he continued to cut us off and talk over us to the point my fiance got so pissed he just hung up on him. I've never met a person in my life that refused to shut up and listen as their maintenance man. (Ever heard the saying that the customer is always correct? You guys really need to train on it.) I work for a government agency and have plenty of customers that are not correct; however I respect my job/customers enough to hear the customer out and come to an understanding.

Due to their inability to actually check their rooms for cleanliness, their lack of ability to make reservations correctly, their horrible policies that state you cannot get keys to another room until they have their keys to your old room back even though it is their fault you have to change rooms, their refusal to refund or give a discount simply because we paid cash, and their disrespectful maintenence staff we will not stay there again and will not refer any of our friends or family...

*2.5 stars. My review is specific for if you are having a wedding at The Lodge. Overall, I think The Lodge is probably one of the best options for a wedding in Deadwood. It's a beautiful venue that is perfectly suited for a wedding and has good amenities. The Lodge provided us with a fantastic two room plus full kitchen and large bathroom with jacuzzi suite. We were charged at the same rate as the rest of the wedding block and the wedding night was free. They even threw in a small gift basket. The set up for the ceremony and reception room were both beautiful as well. The food at our reception was adequate. Where The Lodge struggles is the staff. Much of the staff is rude and show very little care when concerns are raised. In our meeting a month before the wedding I asked if it would be possible to test the slideshow we had put together on the projector we would be renting from The Lodge. This was not permitted. We could not begin setting up for the wedding until 9am the morning of (I understand event rooms get booked daily and this is why, but it does make an already chaotic/busy day even more chaotic) and as a result the projector did not get used. The Lodge was kind enough to take off the price of the rental. The biggest thing that went wrong on the day of the wedding was that the staff began clearing tables and moving guests personal belongings at 9pm. We had a small wedding and an early start to the day so our reception only went until 10pm, but regardless we had the room until 2am and they started clearing tables an hour before the DJ even stopped playing. Cups that my husband and I had brought with us from a distillery in our hometown to drink from at the head table were thrown away despite the fact that we had left coasters on top of them that said 'don't take my drink, I'm dancing.' When we asked the front desk the next morning if someone could take a moment to check and see if our cups were in the kitchen we were told we would have to ask the event coordinator about that. The coordinator was not there that day or the next. We were leaving the next day so we asked again. Luckily, the person on the front desk that day was nicer and checked for us, but could not find them. When we raised these concerns with the event coordinator on the phone we were basically blamed for not making sure the slideshow had been set up and for allowing the DJ to stop playing at 10pm as the reason for the early teardown of our tables/decorations/personal belongings. There was no apology for throwing our personal belongings in the trash. As I said at the beginning of the review, overall so much of our wedding was a good experience, just be prepared to potentially deal with some poor customer service and...

We arrived in Deadwood during late afternoon and were struck with the charm of this legendary mining town. It reminded us of Cripple Creek, one of our great mining and gambling towns in Colorado.

The hotel desk staff was friendly, prompt, and helpful and got us into our room within 15 minutes. They greeted us several times as we walked past them to our room.

The room was spacious, not huge, but big enough for a couple big guys to move around without bumping into each other. It was a walkout room, with access to a lovely grassy, landscaped area. At first I was concerned about the noise from several air conditioners in the area, but I got used to it right away.

Bedding was comfortable and we slept well.

Two negatives: Today we left our room about 10 a.m., came back about 4 p.m. There had been some housekeeping in the room, but they must've experienced the rapture, because they disappeared after making one bed and changing out the towels in the bathroom. I hope they're enjoying their time in heaven. We sinners are still on earth, so we called the front desk and got someone in here to finish, although the housekeeper even at that point missed the ice bucket. He did leave a nice bottle of disinfectant spray, which is now in the closet. I think we'll present it as a gift to the guys at the front desk when we leave. It's our second day, and housekeeping was only slightly better than yesterday. We found one of the housekeepers in the hallway. He looked to be about 15 years old. He'd forgotten to refresh the coffee center ("My bad."), so he did that. The liner on the ice bucket hasn't been changed since we arrived, and the room hasn't been vacuumed since we've arrived. My partner complained about the housekeeping to the desk and we were comped $50 on our total bill.

If you're expecting a free drink for gambling in the casino, you're going to be disappointed. The dude took my order for a drink, brought it to me, checked something, and then told me it would be 8 bucks. The drink was good, but they should have told me up front that I'd be charged. In retrospect, I should have told him to take it back. The drink couldn't have cost them 2 bucks to make.

Bottom line...the stay was enjoyable and we'd stay at...
