The male that works during the day, not sure if he is the owner or not, was absolutely AWFUL. Very unkind human. My fiancé and I stayed there only one night and while the room was not the nicest of rooms (expected for how low the nightly fee was), that didn't bother us. What bothered us is I left something of important value to me in the room. After realizing I had left it there after the fact of us checking out, I immediately called the hotel. The night shift girl was very nice, she told me to call back in the morning as this was 10pm when I called so housekeeping would not be available to speak to about locating my item that was left. I called back at 10am and the male day shift worker answered. He told me nothing was reported found in that room after we checked out. I beg to differ considering I had it when we checked in and didn't after we left. I knew EXACTLY where I left it too and asked politely if I could please come up and look through lost and found (was told they hold L&F items for 30 days) or speak to housekeeping, he said "No, that isn't necessary because nothing was found. Why don't you believe me? Why do you think I'm lying?" in a very stern and argumentative voice. I said because I 100% know I left it there and where it is. He proceeded to tell me nothing was found and no, no, no. He then hung up on me as I was insisting he let me come back to claim my property. Called back later and spoke to the night shift girl again, she said that was awful how he handled the situation and she would try to find it for me. I called back the next morning, same male day shift worker again, he said "You again, why are you calling me back? I told you, nothing was found." I just said "Okay..." and he hung up. It's obvious I'm not ever going to get my property back. I honestly think it was found and he or someone in housekeeping is holding onto it but tell me "nothing was found." So in layman's terms, they are thieves. The night girl was great, she tried to help me the best she could but ultimately this is on the day shift. So unless you don't want to ever regain your personal property if you accidentally leave it at this hotel, DO NOT STAY HERE. I am heartbroken that people like this have a job in customer service of all things. Accommodation is the core of their job...
Read moreStayed there for 6 months after retiring to Decarur as my house I raised was being sold. Somewhere in the last 2 mo there service really went downhill. It was hard getting housekeeping service. The housekeepers were super sweet but over worked. The last 3 weeks I was there the was NO housekeeping service. NADA. Once during this period I begged the sweet night desk lady for some clean sheets and accomidated. Hadn't been changed in 2 weeks .. When I left several days ago bathroom hadn't been cleaned in 3-4 weeks. Housekeeping finally knocked on door day before I left but I was busy packing. End result disgusting black mold growing in bathtub and toilet. DISGUSTING!!!!! Then to begin with they had put me in a room where a 3"x2" piece of the ceramic wash basin had been knocked out. Leaving a hole that water would splash to floor when I ran the Fawcett. I mentioned this at first but nothing was done I have stayed there weekends for 2 years before when I was working OOT elsewhere 43,000as a locum tenens physician after closing my medical practice in Decatur. I gave them accolades before but not now. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! RUN THE OTHER WAY! OH and I have pictures of all the above and will be reporting all this to the neighborhood standards department of the city of Decatur and sending them the pictures. Oh leading up to me leaving they said my room Smelled and I had to gets out. Well that's what happens when don't clean room for 2-3 months. To be fair the night clearks Joe and the two ladies who worked evenings were gem. The day clerk was aloof and at times condescending. NOT...
Read moreIf you're looking to sleep somewhere and wake up feeling like you were chain smoking cigarettes all night...This is the place for you!! I stayed here on my way back from a road trip in October of 2023. It was a last minute, I NEED to SLEEP, choice. In hindsight, I should have pushed my limits and drove further to find a better choice or just slept in my car. The hotel REEKED of weed and cigarettes in the lobby area. When we went up the stairs from the East end of the building entrance. It added the smell of mildew/mold, old food, and garbage. The area where our "room" was had bags of trash outside of the doors and some bags were leaking. The room was extremely out dated, which isn't a big deal to me as it was just a place to rest on my 22hr drive. When I went into the room I noticed the curtains were hanging/not attached to the curtain rod, EVERY flat surface in the room was covered with cigarette burns, the sheets on the bed had burn marks all over, there was mold in the corners of the bathroom ceiling, the shower head was discolored and had mold on some of the nozzles. Against my better judgement I decided to stay. When we left in the morning there were a few other guests out front of the front door smoking a variety of different things and cussing and chatting, while sitting with children that were waiting for their school bus. I WOULD NOT recommend this play to ANYONE. CHOOSE A...
