I gotta say, I try to stay at HIE hotels exclusively because I know what Iām going to get. They have always been dependable and 100% consistent. With the exception of the room itself, this was no exception. The staff were excellent. The hotel was clean as usual. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom; however, is what I didnāt like. And there was not very much to like about it. To start, the sink, vanity and lights were all outside of a tiny room with a toilet and shower only. No bathtub. We had to maneuver around the door in order to get inside the bathroom so we could then shut the door to use the toilet or gain access to the shower. It looked as if placing an additional room in this space was an afterthought and done only to squeeze in an extra guest for very little investment. It was pretty disappointing as its design goes against everything I have ever seen in a Holiday Inn Express. Then, there was the water. Well, maybe not. Well, sometimes. And it may be cold or it may be hot, depending on what else is going on at the moment. I usually take a 15 minute shower. This shower took me about thirty minutes, which isnāt too big of a deal but it did so only because the water supply was intermittent, at best. The temperature of the water was also up and down the whole time so that when I had water, it was just not warm half the time.
These are all issues that I would consider āfirst world problemsā but it just goes to show that when a company like Holiday Inn has invested so much into their brand, it really stands out when there is that one-off sub-par offering.
I will certainly continue to still seek to use HIE exclusively, but I may speak up to the staff if I encounter another room like this in the future. The bathroom was simply too small and the water supply issues need to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSome years ago, I stayed at this property fairly often as I was a member of an organization that is headquartered nearby. This time my stay was disappointing. The staff was courteous and tried to be helpful, but the facility is lacking in maintenance and general upkeep. My room was located at the far end of the hall on the first floor, and I was invited to park on that end of the building and to use the door at that end, but the access lock did not work and because of that I had to travel the full length of the building to get inside. It was a maintenance issue that had not been addressed. The sheets on the bed were dingy and the room did not present itself as fully clean. One of the days, the room was not cleaned, the trash wasn't emptied and the bed wasn't made, only the used towels were replaced. One night, the TV quit working and it explained to us that a new satellite system was needed but the owner/manager was not willing to spend the money on the new equipment. While walking through the lobby I overheard a staff member inform an individual who was checking in that the elevator was not working and that they would have to use the stairs. The gentleman had a very large equipment box to wrestle up the stairs to his room. The breakfast bar was limited in its choices. One morning the food was not available at the scheduled opening time and two of the mornings there was sausage gravy but no biscuits. Individually, these issues would rightly appear to be of little consequence, but collectively, it speaks of an owner/manager who fails to provide the resources for a fully enjoyable stay. On my next trip, I will look for other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I stayed one week. Went home for a week and then back to stay another week. Was there for business. The first week our room was in a handicap room. It smelled like wet dog. Was very humid at times. The room was clean for the most part. Cleaning ladies very friendly all around. The pool was ice cold and we decided that was a big no getting in LOL. I wish I could remember the ladies names at the front desk. The assistant manager I think her name was Veronica...sweet Spanish lady...she was precious and has great PR skills. She was extremely helpful and went above and beyond in her job. The guy was nice and a few other ladies were friendly also. However...There was this other lady that was at the front desk the 2nd week we were there and she needs to not be in that position. I wish I knew her name more than anyone....she should not be the face of any company š¬ very rude lady...im trying to be nice. Observing her treatment with people makes me cringe and sad. Personally saw one officer coming for training decide to find another hotel. Saw her be snippy and degrading in how she speaks to some people. Definitely brings the first impressions down and and unpredictable when dealing with her. One moment she seems to try to be nice then...boom she snips. It was interesting to observe. I'm sure if you work here you know who I'm speaking of...mmhum. Our 2nd week room was upstairs and much nicer. The place over all does need updates. The breakfast wasn't bad. Coffee was really good. I'm appreciative of all the good aspects but there are certainly areas that need tweaking and improved. Could definitely be a great...
