This has been the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. My son and I were on the road for 10 hours before we arrived to this hotel. We had to stop in Deming, NM to get some sleep before we finish our trip to my sons college in AZ the following morning. I chose this place as it was on the list of "approved" hotels via my company travel site. This hotel will now be removed. I had to use the restroom while the front desk was checking us in. The hallway to the lobby restroom had a gross smell and the restroom was dirty. Literally hasn't been cleaned in months. The paper towel dispenser was broken and they had a dirty towel hanging over it. This should have been my first sign but my son and I were extremely tired. We were given a room on the 3rd floor. As soon as I entered the room there was a weird smell but I could have dealt with that if that was the only issue. The toilet was broken (handle) and it was running loudly. I then walked to where the beds were and the first bed had a big stain on the comforter. It looked like oil or something dark. The beds did NOT look clean, the bedding looked dingy but that was all I could handle. I immediately went back the front desk and she (Stephanie) gave us another room on the 1st floor. This room was even worse. The entire room had a strong smell of urine! I went over to the bed, pulled back the sheets as I do at all rooms looking for bugs and cleanliness. The bed was absolutely just slept in and there was FOOD/CRUMBS in the bed. It looked like chips, cheez-its, and oreos (some kind of dark food crumbs). The sheets were not clean in any way, shape, or form. I was literally on the verge of tears because there was no way we could sleep in this type of environment. It is a HEALTH HAZARD. I went to the front desk (Stephanie) and stated we cannot stay here and I need a refund. She said she could not help and that I need to contact Elaine the next day. My son and I drive around and found another hotel. Holiday Inn and the entire process from check-in/check-out was perfect. The room albeit outdated was clean and no horrendous smells. I called and spoke with Elaine the next day. At first she was a little defensive about my claims but she went into both rooms with me while I was on the phone. She agreed with me 100% on my claim with the smells, stain, broken toilet, uncleaned/unwashed bedding and the food under the sheets! She even stated that the cleaners are not allowed to eat or lay on the beds?? She was nice and stated she will start the process. It would take 2-5 days. We are at 8 days. I have called her twice since then and each time she forgets who I am until she goes into the system. She stated she doesn't remember walking into the rooms and that she can't do a refund until she talks to the owners. She is not being nice but stated she is the manager but cannot make any decisions with refunds. She says she can't get a hold of the owners due to issues in California but this is going back to last week, when I made my 3rd call. Today was my 4th call. Keep in mind I am easy going. I camp a lot. I don't mind old. I can handle smells. I do not need fancy. I just need clean beds and working toilets. I just want my refund and now it sounds like it will be challenged by the owners per Elaine as it is up to the owners if they want to issue a refund? I have no choice but to leave this review and report to the BBB. As of 8/25/2023 - still no refund or response As of 9/25/2023 - still no refund or response As of 10/04/2023 - still no refund or response - I filed BBB complaint and they have not responded to...
Read morePlanned return trip to Deming after 5 years to visit family. This time we were not staying with family and needed a hotel for four nights. I have to say there are minimal options and every hotel/motel did not have stellar reviews. This hotel certainly met our needs, comfortable King size bed, in room coffee, microwave, refrigerator and daily breakfast. The decor brought back memories of the 90's, earth tones, a nice love seat and sitting area with a flat screen TV. If you're looking for frills this might not be the place for you. It appears that many guests are just stopping for a one night stay while passing through. I am glad to report we were pleasantly surprised by this facility after reading so many negative reviews. The hotel reception staff were professional and friendly. Destiny checked us in efficiently and welcomed us to Deming. We requested a view of the Florida’s which she accommodated. Elaine on the morning shift provided local info, although we are already familiar with Deming. Elora at the front desk was very helpful in assisting me with a housekeeping matter. The location of the hotel is typical convenience and guests should be aware that it is near I-10 and a train track and small local airport often seeing military helicopters flying over and landing. We were facing east so those noises were faint and our room had great insulation except for the hallway traffic. During the check out times of the morning people often forget they’re not the only guest and talk loudly while departing. It’s Not the hotels fault just disrespect by guests. The pool/jacuzzi are not year round accessible. If you’ve ever travelled to New Mexico you know the weather can be extreme with heat cold and winds which can make it impossible to maintain the pool/jacuzzi. The complimentary breakfast was delightful and Kelly (hotel rep) who ensured everything was clean and well stocked (waffles, eggs, sausage, toast, bagels with cream cheese, cereal, yogurt and fruit.) She told us that she wears multiple hats and also is a housekeeper.||My advice to potential guests …value reviews for what they are and realize guests are quick to provide negative feedback but there may be many positive experiences that are never relayed. Any place can have room for improvement but even our own homes have needs. Overall the property is acceptable and we had four peaceful nights of rest.||The hotel receptions staff; Destiny, Elaine, Elora and Kelly were all so helpful and very good at what they do. Thank you team we...
Read moreUnless you like being over and unlawfully charged, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I would have issued 0 stars if it was an option. Everyone i have spoken to was completely unprofessional, and borderline criminal. for both staff and management. These are the kind of people who will rip you off with a smile on their face. I Have stayed at several La Quinta Inns before and never had an issue. This is actually the first negative review i have ever left for any company, ever! Basically, I was charged for a room even though I made several attempts to cancel my reservation. Their phone system was down, and they refuse to refund me for a room I never used. I have proof and saved my call logs showing that I made every attempt to reach the front desk. On top of this, when making the reservation I asked if I would only be charged upon my arrival, and the gentleman at the front desk reassured me that I would not be. This was a blatant, bold faced lie. I will pursue legal action to the fullest extent to be refunded. They probably shouldn't have ripped off a law student. I did make three attempts to call and cancel. Essentially the hotel is punishing me because their phone service was inoperable
I would also like to add that this place was severely price gouging- taking advantage of those affected by the recent hurricanes. One of the issues I had with this place is that when they told me they would not refund my money even though it was clearly their fault for having faulty phone systems in place, they were upset because they "could have charged someone much more for the same room" since they were at capacity. Absolutely disgusting to hear that from management of the property, especially in a time like this where we should be helping those effected by these disasters. In no way do I hold the company responsible for all this, however the management and staff are crooked...
