So Lake and Shore is a little tough for scoring and I’d say 3.5 for us. Some good some bad. Would we go again? Yeah, I think so, but not before we’d try other Thousand Trails in the region. What I liked about this campsite was all the water activities. Mom of eight here (with eight to ten camping, usually). Water activities are a must for kiddos. I’ll start with the lake. It’s nice, shallow entry which is great for keeping littles safe. A nice beach and chairs for lounging are a plus. The small playground on the beach is an eye catcher for the children. The pool is a good size and on the weekdays it’s open until 9 which i haven’t seen much before so that was a bonus. The water park leaves a little to be desired. The slides are slow moving and because they were short staffed during our stay they closed it fairly early. My kids enjoyed it for about 30-45 minutes and then weren’t interested for the remainder of our stay preferring the pool and lake. For TT members there’s a nice gym. Also Location is in close proximity to Sea Isle beach. About a ten minute drive and your staring at the Atlantic. Cons: First, extremely rude employee working the equipment rental shack. The rentals are free to members. The woman working there told us we could rent kayaks until 530 and use them until 6. We arrived at 510 the next day to rent some paddle boards and kayaks but she said we couldn’t bc they closed at 530. When we reminded her we spoke to her just the day before when she gave us different information she shrugged her shoulders , like “whatever”, stared at her phone and just kept scrolling like we weren’t there. I told her she was being rude. My husband reported the rudeness. Didn’t seem like anything would be done. So that was annoying as it was our last day but first opportunity and we’d hoped to use the rentals. Plus, It’s one thing to give wrong info out of error and say “hey I’m sorry my bad I gave you the wrong info.” But to totally blow us off and just act like we were pestering her while she scrolled through social media or whatever she was doing that was so important is, we’ll, just plain rude. Strike 1 for poor service! The pool side bathroom shower was absolutely gross. Like, I get it, bathrooms and shower stalls get wet but this wasn’t just that. They were dirty. There was a half eaten soggy sandwich thrown on the shower floor, as well as other dirt and debris. Strike 2 for cleanliness of bath house. The water on the site had a weird odor that we all (in my party) noticed. Even if you let the water rub a bit first it never got better. It left our hair and skin smelling very metallic and it was unpleasant and a little alarming. We don’t use water at campgrounds for consumption (ever) but this water I didn’t even want to wash in. Strike 3 for water. Finally, people played their music loudly at their sites without a care for whether others enjoyed their musical repertoire. It got to be a little noisy and annoying. All in all I can see Lake and Shore being a place families would like to stay because of closeness to the shore and the pool/lake on site. If you could overlook a rude employee here and there, not so clean bathhouses and some loud music you probably would enjoy it for the other things they offer. I will say this, they kept quiet hours quiet and we had no trouble falling asleep after all the swimming.

We stayed here 5/22/22-6/12/22. After a year and a half on the road, this was one of our favorite campgrounds. Upsides: There is literally a lake with a beach. It seems like they clean and smooth the beach every morning. The lake water was warm. Bret swam in it multiple times. Our friends went fishing and caught some small fish. On the weekends, during that season, there was also a bounce house by the beach. There is a nice path that goes around the lake, probably about 3/4 of a mile long. There are also lots of interconnecting trails in the woods. They also have a nice pool area, and the pool is large. They also have a gym. If you know Bret, you know he likes to work out. He says it was one of the nicer campground gyms that he has seen, which included elliptical machines, a few weight machines, and dumbbells that went up to 30 pounds. They have a couple other regular things such as a store and library. The sites are large and clean. Ours was mostly dirt. Trees were spread out enough and pruned, so they weren’t a problem. Internet was amazing with our cell phones on Verizon, and our hotspots on Cricket & T-Mobile. It was probably THE best internet we've had on the road. Downsides: There were a couple of times that we went to the gym or store and they were closed, during their regular hours. The children’s water park which is separate from the regular pool, was closed when we were there, which included over Memorial Day weekend. It was supposed to reopen at that time like most places, but it never did, at least while we were there. That was a bummer because it was one of the main reasons we went there. The regular pool area and lake were still open though. Horseflies - There are places around the park, especially on the path around the lake, unfortunately, where the horseflies can be relentless. All together it was one of the best campgrounds, if not THE best, that we’ve been to. We would definitely stay there again. While you're in the area, go check out the Cape May Zoo!

So on February 25th 2021 I rented a cabin for my family and I and my 2 dogs for August 8th-12th. This campground is out of our price range however it offered a water park. I splurged with the idea that the water park would be opening and functional. This was not the case. I received an email that the WP would be closed for the majority of our stay. I called Thousand Trails and I was denied a refund. I then asked for a 10% discount which I received. Even with the discount it was not worth the money. We arrived on Sunday and on Monday we went to the WP. It was open on and off throughout the day. Not all the slides were open. The purpose of coming to this particular campground was to enjoy the amenities. Instead, my 3 year old stood outside the WP gate and cried. For 2 days. I understand that staffing was an issue. I was told that the camp lost its contract with the Lifeguard company that they use. If I wanted to stay at a cabin with just a pool I would have went somewhere else. This not the experience I was expecting. The last issue I have is with the cabin. It was DISGUSTING! I don’t expect a 4 Star hotel but the cabin had mold and dirt EVERYWHERE. There must have been a flood and the cabin had water damage. None of the repairs were made after the flood. There was mold on the wood around the door in the bedroom. There was water damage to the fixtures all over the cabin. I took pictures for future reference. I will be leaving reviews on other websites. Overall , I would NOT recommend Lake and Shore. I’m a simple person and didn’t expect much but this was the worst vacation I’ve ever been on. The amount of money that we paid did not align with the experience we received. I want those 5 days back.

Everything is outdated and unkept; first noticed it at the check-in building. Gutters are hanging due to being full of weeds, and never cleaned out. The adult lounge has a strong mold smell. We chose this campground because the TT site stated there was a hot tub. Not only did we find out it was broke and not repaired, but IT’S BEEN BROKE ALL SUMMER!||They have a very nice store, game room, large pool, and a very nice waterpark. However, it was cold and rainy for 4 days of our stay so the pool was very cold. Had the hot tub been working, I would have jumped in the pool to cool off and had something to enjoy every day. With only a cold pool to use, I could have stayed home and enjoyed my in-ground pool. ||The unit was clean. The overhead a/c broke. Instead of fixing it, they put an a/c in the window directly across from the couch so it blows right in your face. There is a floor unit a/c in the bedroom with a 4” hose going out the window, so you cannot close your blinds. At night, if your light is on, your neighbors get a clear shot of you! They even scotch tape broken blinds!||They only had a couple of activities here for adults (karaoke and bingo) the whole week. I like karaoke. We arrived a few minutes after 5, and the doors were locked. I called the office to tell them nobody was there. They said they would call someone and send them over. Other groups of people came up and tried to get in. I told them the office was sending someone over. We waited until 5:45 pm. NOBODY EVER CAME! I tried to call the office again, but I had to speak to security. She said to check at the activities shed. I went there. A girl was listening to her phone on speaker, so I said “excuse me.” I asked her if they are having karaoke tonight. She replied “IT WAS AT 5.” She lied to me. I said “no it wasn’t. I got here a few minutes after 5 and the door has been locked the entire time. I told her the office said they would tell her to come over. That was shortly after 5pm. We have been waiting for 45 minutes.” She told me she could come do it, but for only 10 minutes because they close at 6pm. She told me nobody ever shows up to it, or only 1 or 2 people do. She never even came over to find out if anyone was coming!! It should not matter how many people show up. If it’s on your activities list, you should be there and have the door open. People did come and find the door locked. The security people came over and I walked to them and told them what happened. The activities girl came over and said she’s getting a lot of calls about karaoke. Hmm, I only called the office once, so there are other people calling, and you still didn’t show up??? Only 2 activities for adults the whole week, and she didn’t even show up to 1 of them.||We were both very displeased. My husband said he will never go there again.||Thousand Trails SHOULD NOT have an amenity listed on their reservations site it it is broke and not available. Let the parks be responsible for removing it and putting it back on when it’s repaired. ALSO, WHY is it left broken all summer long? Fix the hot tub and schedule better activities for adults. The week’s activities listed are lame compared to other parks that do lobster roasts, pig roasts, potlucks, karaoke, bands, DJ’s, etc. ALL CAMPGROUNDS SHOULD HAVE TO POST THEIR WEEKS ACTIVITIES.
