This hotel property has potential but fell way short of what I thought a Best Western level of quality was supposed to be. I booked the King Whirlpool suite over the labor day holiday weekend.
At the front desk the staff were overwhelmed there were a lot of people checking ni and needing assistance. I said you need some help and I got a knowing glance that I interpreted as "I know, tell me about it, nothing's gonna change though".
The next problem was the door key wouldn't work very well, staff were very nice to re-program three sets of keys but the door never worked right every time. Staff in the hall said they had problems with that door all the time. Why not fix it?
In terms of the room, first I was greeted with the smell. I had seen other reviews over time that mentioned this but didn't believe them. Well you should believe them too. It was a musty maybe moldy smell that went away only when I ran the A/C full blast which made the room bone chilling cold, and I like it cool, so that's saying something.
Then I noticed the jar of Salsa in the fridge left by the previous guest(s) which told me the housekeeping staff is not checking everything, Are they checking anything I thought.....
Then the mold on the wall next to the hot tub caught my attention and the water spots on the left half of the nearby T.V., again housekeeping not checking.
Next I noticed an unusual amount of hair around the base of the toilet and and the hair my towel on the floor picked up.
Next was the joke of a shower. It was a handheld type of sprayer at about chin level and the flow and pressure reminded me of showering under a soda straw. At least the water stayed hot. I can't say that for all hotels.
While these things are bad it wasn't a complete disaster. The room size was very large and comfortable, there was a huge closet (for a hotel) and tons of other places to hang/store clothes and put luggage, the floor of the bathroom is imitation or laminate wood flooring, very attractive, the bed was sooooo comfortable, there were two adequately sized TV's, a desk another table to work from or eat from, more seating than two people would ever need, a fridge and microwave that were adequate, two rooms, a main and a bedroom where the tub was.
To sum up I would say if they do some work to fix all the negatives, and not raise the price of the room to do it, it would be a very very nice room to stay in. Right now I can't recommend that you book this...
Read moreWe stayed for 1 nights for spring break and had several rooms booked in Best western Dodgeville. The staff went above and beyond to serve our whole family very well! The cook that did the breakfast (forgot his name) was exceptionally great when we were having problems with the waffle maker, he made the extra effort to take the time and help us. The rooms were very clean and the pool was kept up well also. Coffee and cocoa was available in the lobby 24/7. Breakfast was great. Everything you could want was available and fresh. we stayed in Americinn by Wyndham last year and it was so nasty and not clean. we will never go back in Americinn by Wyndham. I would not recommend to anyone of Americinn by Wyndham. Go in Best western and stay it. Me and my family decide to stay in best western Dodgeville inn and suites in this year. it was great experience. it was so nice and clean. Our favorite hotel so far! Rooms are beautiful and that bathroom....WOW!! Love that the sink is still in the bathroom, unlike other hotels. The see-through shower is the best!! location was excellent. service was great. Continental Breakfast, holy cow! Waffles, omelets, potatoes, oatmeal, fresh fruit, bagels, coffee, juice, and I know I've forgotten a few things. We will definitely to stay and return in Best western Dodgeville as we have family in Dodgeville and come visit often. Thank you to...
Read moreNot the best stay, definitely not what I expected from a Best Western. The room definitely needed some TLC. Our room smelled strongly like wet dog. It was like a bad landlord special in the bathroom with paint and caulk coverups and the shower was stained, scummy and outdated. The couch in the room was badly worn and stained. Our room had both an inside door and an outside door. (weird) In our case, the inside door would not work with our room key but the outside door did so we had to use the outside door all weekend because there was apparently nothing the staff could do about it. I had tried to see if we could switch rooms and again nothing the staff could do for us. The man working was not empathic at all and really just didn't seem to care. The pool area, while unique, needs some serious updating and deep cleaning. The hot tub was warm at best and the second night closed for cleaning. The "hot" parts of breakfast definitely just came out of a microwave and the cereals and slices of bread were not fresh. Overall I was seriously disappointed, it's what I would have expected from a budget motel, not a Best Western. The price was comparable if not more than much nicer hotels in the area. If I had the choice I definitely wouldn't have chosen differently, but everywhere was booked nearby. If you are planning a trip to this area book early so you don't have...
