Food Complaints: I had hair in my food last time I came, this time my partner got a date sticker in their food. That is unacceptable from any kitchen, to have foreign bodies ending up in food is dangerous and easily preventable with normal kitchen health and safety standards, this is evident that the kitchen does not follow correct cleanliness or food safety precautions.
Price: For the low quality food being kicked out the door, the price does not correlate. Since the last time I was here everything went up about a buck, which seems indicative of underlying management issues. My dish was over $11 and was 50% frozen potato hash, two miniscule breakfast sausage links, and 2 overcooked dry thin slices of bacon - I could make cereal at home and still get better value for money.
Service: The service is the redeemable part of this business. To a point. The servers here are so polite and understanding and just hands down absolute angels. Every time we've asked for something extra, asked for help, or just chatted, it's been an outstanding service. To the servers of this country kitchen. You are the saving grace of this business, without you, this place is nothing.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere ranges with time and day. Ultimately, this is a family diner, expect unsupervised screaming children, sometimes messy floors, and strange glares from the locals. The servers are polite and give you room while ensuring your needs are met.
The issue then? Kitchen or management - something's up here, overpriced food which I have to look out for foreign bodies in? Of course I'm gunna limit my exposure...
Read moreGood service and food. I'm far less likely to go back now than I was. We used to love their Friday night fish specials, until they stopped including dinner rolls. To my wife, my friends and myself a dinner roll was an important part of the meal. A part that's sadly lacking now. I changed my review from a five star to a three star. I wouldn't have minded a little price increase to get the meal the way that I like it. I have no reason to make a special trip there anymore. I won't go back unless I'm already in town and I won't ask our friends to join us there. I did make my feelings known when we were there last and couldn't get dinner rolls to go with our meals. Tip to people in the food industry when you have a menu item that people like and you need to make changes increasing the cost of the meal a little is better than giving customers less than they are expecting and...
Read moreI have gone here a few times for the breakfast buffet on Sunday (always very busy) and for a few dinners as well. Sunday buffets are generally good but so busy that there is often a very long line. I would suggest a larger buffet area with two sides so that the line moves fast and is not right down the aisle between tables. Nothing like having a bunch of people standing right next to your table while you are eating. If you eat during the buffet try not to sit in the booths or tables on the far side from the door.
The off times we have eaten here for dinner (we eat earlier than most people) have been very good. The service is good with friendly wait staff. The food quality is better than most Country Kitchens I have eaten in.
