Two reasons to stay here:||-price||-location||||Price can't be beat...$35/night. Including tax a 3 night stay is less than one night in a chain up in Klamath Falls. ||||Location is close to Klamath wildlife refuges, Bear Valley (which allows hunting at certain times of year), and Lava Beds National Monument. We chose to stay here rather than Klamath Falls because it was much closer to get to these locations. It's about 5 minutes to the turn-off to Lower Klamath Falls NWR and Tule Lake NWR. It was about 7 minutes to an area to view the early morning bald eagle flyout from Bear Valley.||||There is a larger mini fridge (about 3 feet tall) and the freezer section freezes and the fridge section doesn't which puts it ahead of many chain mini fridges. There is a microwave and a wet bar sink. The bed was a good firmness. There is free coffee, hot water, instant oatmeal, dry cereal and milk, and pre-packaged pastries in the morning. Room hot water is hot and the heater kept the room warm. There was good water pressure for the shower. Parking is free and very close to the rooms. Free wifi.||||It is a $35 motel; so....||the bedspread is worn and had a rip. The towels are thin. There isn't a ton of space...there's a table and one chair, but if you're group is two or more there's not a good place for more than one person to sit and eat the meal made from the fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a shower and toilet. The only sink is the wet bar sink; so, it has to handle hand washing and morning routines. The only mirror is above the table in the bedroom (none in the bathroom). There is no counter space for toiletries or by the microwave/fridge area. The carpet is old (but clean). There are some cracks in the walls. There is no closet--just a hanging bar with 5 hangers next to the bed. There was a big space under the door--we put a towel in it overnight to keep the heater from having to turn on so frequently. A pillow case had stains--looked like a blue pen had exploded on it. Not sure why it wouldn't be replaced or bleached. We had a king bed and instead of king pillows there were three regular sized pillows.||||It's decently clean, but aging. It's not up to the standard of a hampton or holiday inn express or best western. But, it was ok for what it is. The owners live on premises and everything felt safe. The other guests seemed like normal travelers--no weird vibes. located right off the 97--very fast to get on and off...
Read moreSome of the reviews had me a little worried BUT we totally enjoyed our stay. "No frills" is accurate, but for what we paid it was awesome! I paid approx $35/night for a king bed to share with my 6 year old and booked through a popular hotels website. I called ahead to confirm because we were rolling in late and the gal found our reservation right away and had no problems (I've had a place give up my room before - I'm traumatized!). This town is basically a couple of 90 degree turns in the road - not much here. Rolling in the area looks a little rough and run down but all the people were pleasant. Our room didn't smell like smoke or mildew or anything - smelled clean. Surfaces were clean (not sticky, no dust or ick). Linens felt clean. The room was pretty well arranged with a small fridge (mini but not super mini like some places). Sink is a bar sink (small but high spout). The room seemed newly painted and some features upgraded. The bathroom has a curved shower curtain bar so shower feels more spacious. Towels were small and rough but worked fine. Breakfast is 2 cereal options or oatmeal and pastry things. Not like a hotel restaurant breakfast but definitely great for the kid! One bummer was that each morning at about 5am a smoker was coughing outside the window. But we didn't smell it so, cool. Otherwise, we didn't hear too much other people or road noise. We'll definitely keep this pace in mind for proximity to Lava Beds National Monument and adventures in the area. Great value. Know what to expect though so you're not disappointed. And the gal at the desk...
Read moreMy husband and I along with our three small children got a flat tire on hwy97, our spare went flat shortly after changing it. CHP was amazing and gave us a ride to the nearest hotel who said they had vacancy. The police officer dropped myself and my two sons (6&7 years old) at the hotel at 10pm, night before Easter and went back to pick up my husband and 3 year old daughter. The lady at the front counter told me "no rooms". As I stood outside in an unfamiliar town under a street lamp trying to call my husband and in tears, the owner came out and told me to get off his property (the only well-lit area within walking distance). After the police officer returned with my husband and daughter he gave us another ride into Klamath Falls where we were able to get a room. My husband then called the hotel that same night and the woman answered and said that they had rooms available. I have never in my life been treated like that before and I can not believe my son's had to have that...
