One-Star Review: An Utterly Disgraceful Stay at Lakeshore Inn

Avoid Lakeshore inn at all costs unless you enjoy overpaying for a miserable, bug-infested, outdated dump. From the moment we arrived, this hotel was a masterclass in how to disappoint guests.

Checking in at 2 PM—hardly an unreasonable hour—we were slapped with a $25 early check-in fee for a room that was already ready. To top it off, the staff had the audacity to ask for a tip at check-in, a shameless first in my years of travel.

The room itself was a nightmare straight out of the 1970s. The mattress, a creaky, lumpy spring relic, felt like sleeping on a pile of rocks, and the pillows were so flat they may as well have been sheets. The air conditioning was a cruel joke, barely cooling half the room, leaving us sweating through the night. Worse, the front and back doors had gaps so wide they invited a parade of bugs and spiders—my partner and I were forced to play exterminator throughout our two-day stay. To add insult to injury, those same door gaps allowed rainwater to flood the room, turning our floor into a swampy mess.

The final straw? A 20-hour power outage in our room, with no apology from the staff. When we asked for a partial refund for this unacceptable inconvenience, they flat-out refused, showing zero regard for basic customer service. Rooms were musty and had spiders in the upper corners of the rooms. The linens felt dusty as if they had not been recently cleaned and others starched. Contrary to the website, this is a motel style inn. The standard room mattress was like sleeping on springs with no padding, and the pillows were flat as could be. The Inn and restaurant has a fantastic view of the lake. Everyone who works here is very friendly. The bed is the worst I've ever slept on, all springs and no comfort. The restaurant food was ok but the service was really slow. There were no bands on Friday and Saturday night like their website stated. There isn't a microwave in the room but they are real spacious.They give you an ice bucket but there is no ice and their coke machine...
