When we pulled in. There were no guest. We were placed in the middle of the inn. We requested a quiet room. We always check the room out before we bring our luggage in. When we checked under the sink in the bathroom, we found a pair of men's boxers. No we didn't call & report it to front office. My wife checked the coffee maker. It didn't look like it hadn't been cleaned for a very long time. The glass pot was blackish. I took my wife out and got vinegar, and dish soap and she scrubbed away the grim & ick. It appeared that the tub had not been cleaned either. The tub is very tiny. I am a slender man and I had problems bathing. There is no stopper for the tub. I would not recommend bathing in the tub. The sign that reads No Smoking, No Pets is a farce. The room smelled of both. It stunk. No I did not call the front desk. The mattress is like sleeping on concrete. It hurt to get out of bed the next morning. Thursday night was quite and peaceful. Friday & Saturday night was miserable. Front desk put guest on both sides of us. There was plenty of rooms farther away. I'm not sure why the guest were put on both sides of us. Friday night, guest on one side of us was speaking his native language of profanity, very loudly. Even hollering sometimes. He was complaining that the toilet had feces in it and had not been flushed. It went downhill from there. Saturday night on the other side of our room. They were having a moanfest, half the night. The walls are so thin, that you can hear guest having sex. Saturday night it is party central. There is no parking anywhere, because the lounge packs out. The partying continues to around 1:00 or 2:00. It is loud. There was a good performer that night. I did not call the front desk on any of my complaints. It is their job to make sure guest have clean, comfortable rooms. It is not my job to tell them how to do their jobs. I knew that it would do absolutely no good, in complaining. Some key staff members needs to do better or be replaced. This is the most disgusting place, I've ever laid my head. I would not recommend...
Read moreWe were having lunch with lots of relatives on Sun so we decided to check it out on Fri. 3 couples plus us so not a crowd on deck to eat. Someone in a previous review mentioned a tablespoon of meat on the Philly, true. Teaspoon maybe of onions & cheese. Catfish pretty good, onions GREASY, BAKED POTATO probably cooked that morning and keep in a steamer all day. Had to wave the server down to get tea. SLOW, SLOW SLOW. Don’t sit on the deck unless you like cigarette smoke. One couple smoked 10 in less than 10 min. I counted. One couple moved to other side of deck. Now Sun. If you eat the buffet you better be 1-10 in line to get a decent piece of chicken. When that’s gone that’s it then you can have 1skinny thigh, leg or wing. Girl preparing plates never smiled and was a little disrespectful. Fried green tomatoes, Mac & cheese, coleslaw, green beans cornbread and coconut cake ok. So many complaints from other family members about food being cold and that potato as mentioned before looked same…cooked hours before & kept somewhere. Salad lettuce, cheese and 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half, looked unappetizing. The asparagus looked charred. Chicken not marinated enough¬ tender. They knew in advance we had a big group coming so it was a BIG disappointment about the chicken pieces especially. 1 skinny piece of chicken for a 200lb man isn’t much or anybody for that matter. Charge more if you have to so you can provide a better meal. Standing in line so long and not being that far back due to slowness of 1 poor server. To get a refill of coffee I had to go myself almost to coffee pot to get a refill. 26-30 people should have at least 2 designated servers. I think they must have had people taking turns cooking because SLOW isn’t the word. Most unorganized restaurant I’ve been to and management didn’t seem to care. Not sure who owns this restaurant but I would fire everyone and start over. It was not enough to redeem such a meal but the coconut cake...
Read moreDidn't rate "rooms" as we only were at the restaurant! We were a group of 12 Seniors from Blooming Grove Baptist Church.
The restaurant has a large menu selection. From appetizers to burgers and sandwiches to full on meals with many choices. Our waitress, Belle, was great! The food was served quickly for us being a big bunch! Everyone enjoyed their meals.
On Sundays, apparently there is a buffet in the large room. There are wonderful views of the water, as there are full windows. There's a small sitting area with a fireplace that looks cozy. The "main" area is the room with the bar on one end and an area for live music on the other. There is a very nice outdoor eating area - with fans - and terrific views.
Cons:
There is literally ONE Women's and ONE Men's restroom!! Like one toilet for a restaurant that seems it could easily seat maybe 150??? And, tho it shows wheelchair accessible on the restroom signs, I really wouldn't consider them very accessible (I'm guessing the Men's was identical to the Women's) Getting in the door would be a tight turn. The door lock is way up high - noone in a wheelchair could reach it! Then the floor has quite a dip to a drain - which would make positioning your chair a bit of a challenge. It wasn't the "safest" for those of us who are disabled (using canes, wheelchairs or simply difficulty walking)
Also, when going to eat on the outdoor patio area? Be careful! The floor dips/is made at a slant. Disabled or clumbsy folks - youve been told!! Going back up - don't go where the boards are kind of cornered! There were a couple of us that hit an area that could have tripped us.
We all had a very enjoyable meal, enjoyed the view and had great service! We've heard the live music is very popular! Hubby n I...
