I am a bit delayed in leaving my review, as we stayed in early August. We absolutely loved the Whalewalk Inn! We did not want to leave. The Inn is luxurious and elegant without being pretentious or stuffy, and we felt spoiled, even with the spa being closed due to COVID. All of the buildings and grounds are just beautiful! The owners, Christina and Steve, are so nice and helpful. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and a personal tour of the buildings and grounds and facilities. They were present and available in the main Inn when needed. (Which was a 30 second walk away...none of the buildings are far from each other). Our texts were always replied to quickly. They are being super careful about COVID with all precautions in place and masks required. We stayed in Carriage House 6, and it was lovely, full of light, spotlessly clean, spacious, romantic, beautifully appointed, and so cozy and comfortable! The bathroom was huge and we loved our double whirlpool tub! There was even an LED candle provided to make baths more cozy. The gourmet breakfasts were to die for...absolutely scrumptious and completely homemade. Christina went above and beyond to accommodate my extensive dietary restrictions, creating exceptionally delicious homemade, gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free breakfasts for me. My husband's breakfasts were exceptional as well (no dietary restrictions for him). We both agreed she is an outstanding cook! And the presentation was lovely, from the entrees to the baked goods to the fruit, which was clearly so fresh, and high quality. We had breakfast on our balcony due to COVID (although both the indoor and outdoor dining areas looked lovely), and our breakfasts were carefully packaged and still fresh and warm, including the coffee, and the juice nice and cold. Christina prepared our breakfast for us to pick up when we texted her, so that they would be freshly made. We didn't use the pool or gym, but they looked very nice and clean. The location of this Inn is very nice...it is on a lovely road and feels very secluded, but is close to beaches and restaurants and such. It borders Orleans, so access to Orleans and Chatham was very convenient as well as Eastham and Wellfleet. I really miss the Whalewalk Inn and think of it often! We talk about when we might return, and will definitely be visiting again, hopefully periodically. Thank you so much...
Read moreWe greatly enjoyed our 3-night stay at this family-run inn. Christina and Steve were very welcoming owners, and interesting to talk to. It was a convivial and friendly atmosphere in the inn, with some guests striking up conversations with other guests over breakfast, but there was also plenty of space and privacy so no sense of this being intrusive. It's just outside Orleans town, but only a very short drive from the restaurants etc of Orleans, and I assume all visitors are coming with cars and are prepared to drive a very short way (less than 10 mins) to dinner. Given the tranquility of the location, the nice gardens (and great star-gazing), it certainly felt like a good trade off to us versus being in a downtown area. We were in the Rose room, which was one of their standard rooms (as in, not a deluxe/upgraded room) and even though that was the lowest tier price-wise, we found it really charming, and not too small at all. It was in the main building, which we really liked (although the other rooms/cabins dotted over the grounds were no doubt just as pleasant, and might have had their own advantages from extra space or privacy, so to each their own!). Decoration throughout the inn was quaint and whale-themed. We had absolutely no problems with hearing any neighboring rooms, and found it very peaceful; walls must be very thick. The only thing I would note was that the minifridge in our room (a really nice amenity) did hum more noticeably at night, and since alas I'm very sensitive to noise when trying to sleep, I did end up using my earplugs for this! This wasn't a flaw, but just something I'll mention for other guests who might want to make similar provisions! We appreciated Christina's recs for dinner (we LOVED Land Ho), and the breakfasts were, as everyone has commented, a delight. Housekeeping was noticeably good (very thorough, very quick--much better than I've experienced in many hotels). One of the nicest things was that I had alerted them in advance that it was my fiance's birthday, and they left a little box of local artisan chocolates in the room with a birthday note on arrival. This made him so happy, which made me so happy! It was a very nice touch which really felt in keeping with the warm atmosphere of this family establishment. We would very warmly recommend them to anyone looking for a base for their...
Read moreThe Whalewalk Inn was everything they said it would be and everything I hoped it would be. Located on a quiet road just off the Orleans rotary, it is classic Cape Cod B&B with a twist... awesome breakfasts!!! I've stayed in many B&B's. Most offer nice accommodations and a breakfast of coffee, juice and a small pastry. But the Whalewalk in offers a 3-course breakfast including a wonderful handmade bread course, fresh fruit, and a different main course daily. The homemade muffins and breads are awesome. Even though I choose to restrict my pastry intake, I couldn't resist the delicious bread course. And they offered to adjust their main course to maintain my keto diet. But our travel companions assured us that you will really enjoy the waffles, blueberry pancakes, omelettes, and french toast, too.||The proprietors are wonderful people. Meeting Steven for breakfast every morning was refreshing. He always has a smile and tips for interesting excursions. Christina is the master of the menu. I can't say enough about what comes out of her kitchen. ||The room we stayed in was extra nice... and large: a living/dining room, full kitchen with an oven/stove, microwave and a large refrigerator. Our 2nd floor room had a deck for relaxing outside with morning coffee or an evening cocktail.||The grounds are beautiful. Fully landscaped with large mature trees, shrubbery and flowers. The hydrangeas are amazing.||We like to go to the beach but have to travel by plane so we can't bring beach equipment with us. That's no problem at the Whalewalk Inn. They gave us beach umbrellas, chairs, and towels... Perfect!||In summary, you couldn't ask for a nicer Cape Cod experience. I...
