I found this place on the AirBNB app. When I arrived, it looked unkept and overgrown on the outside. The foyer just inside the entrance was cluttered with building materials. There was an 8 ft ladder propped against the wall in the common area and the host was in the middle of cleaning the kitchen which was a mess. There were several birds on site including an African Gray parot, Macaw, cockatoo, finch, doves, and two other birds of some sort. The host claimed that the small guest fridge was available, but was filled with food that she said would be removed but was not. There was a raunchy smell, at first I thought was musty from being shut up for the last several months. At the end of our stay we determined the smell was from a decomposed and rotting commercial refrigerator in the kitchen that was kept locked. Hence the reason why the guest fridge was filled with food. The host hung dollar store air fresheners everywhere they gave me a headache. The host said that there were no other guest staying there and that she lived a couple miles away. We came back to our place around 9 PM the first night and she was still there cleaning and watching TV in the common area. We had no privacy and had to go right to our room and spend the rest of the night in our bedroom. The following night we came back around 9 PM and again she was cleaning the kitchen floor with the TV on in the common area. She spent both nights at the location when she assured us we would have the place to ourselves. We had no privacy and every time we came out of her bedroom she wanted to make small talk. I was so annoyed and completely disappointed with our choice in places to stay that weekend. I will never stay here again. After all that cleaning she did it was still pretty dirty and outdated the towels and sheets look like they were 20 years old. The bed was horrible. The mattress had plastic on it and every time do you move do you heard a crunching sound. The window had no screen in it and we were hot as hell in our room. I don’t even want to give this review one star but there is no option for zero. And she had the nerve to charge me $80 a...
Read moreThis place has quirky character, and quirky characters! Owner Lin is super extremely helpful, friendly and eager to please. (She even ran out and bought a cake when she found out it was my husband’s birthday!) It kind of felt like staying with your friend’s great aunt. The place is clean and secure in a good location, although the town doesn’t have a lot to offer. The decor is eccentric, and there are numerous pet birds. Don’t stay here if you like the cold corporate regularity of Holiday Inns, but if you’re open to a cheap, peculiar and utterly unique...
Read moreLin is super friendly and accommodating but the place is very run down (there is a hole in the kitchen ceiling) and very dirty. And there are many large talking birds in the house. When you park in front it almost looks abandoned because the grass is overgrown and the house is falling apart. If she could get the place fixed up it would be great. I hate to give her only a couple stars because she is so nice but I wish I had known about the condition of the place before...
