I needed a place for an overnight (traveling from NJ to VA) at night. The location was perfect and my experiences with Best Western's have always been great (not going to spend a ton for a 7 hour stay)-just want a clean, comfortable room, shower and I'm on my way. This Best Western delivered that and more. The room was spacious (great if I was staying longer, but nice even for an overnight). Most important as soon as I walked in, I could see the attention to detail by the cleaning staff, so I could relax right away. Everything was quiet and comfortable, so I was able to get a great night's sleep, get up early and take advantage of the fitness room. Nice to be able to do a little weight work in addition to cardio. Breakfast was well stocked throughout and that's pretty much it, I was on my way. I would like to say one thing about the staff (even though I was in & out so quick). I had an issue with my navigation app, which surprisingly sent me 30 minutes out of the way (yes, I entered the address correctly). I called the hotel (realized the tax service business I was sitting in front of wasn't a Best Western). The associate gave me directions, talked me in a bit and we shared a good laugh when I finally got there. Knowing I was pretty tired, she got me checked in quickly. It was just what I needed. If I come through the area again, I'll stay at this Best Western again.

The entire hotel smelled like old cigarettes and heavy cleaning chemicals, almost unbearable to breathe all night. The outside trash cans were overflowing with garbage on the ground. They have a serious ant problem. If you leave a drink on the night stand, in a few hours it's covered in ants. We had ants on our towels, the bed etc. The AC barely worked, it was blowing out warm/cool air and made a lot of noise. The hotel pool and hot tub are closed. I guess I shoulda read the reviews first before booking this hotel. I guess the pool has been closed for months cuz they can't figure out how to adjust the chemicals. This hotel definitely does not stand up to the best Western name. I would not recommend this hotel for anything. There are way better hotels, cheaper, right down the road. One nice thing to say... the staff seemed to be nice and have a good attitude.

Convenient location just outside of the town or North East and just off 95. Rates are reasonable for the area. Free continental breakfast is limited, but okay. Nothing special, or worth mentioning. Check-in Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds were pretty firm, but linens and pillows were soft. Small laundry and gym available on the first for for use during your visit. Gym was quiet small, but still contained a treadmill, elliptical, bike and some weights. Pet friendly, with a low pet fee. Unfortunately we had booked the hotel knowing they had a pool, only to find out it was currently under construction, so call in advance if that is important to you.

We stayed at this hotel while we waited for house settlement and we had a few issues and stayed longer than we anticipated but we decided on this hotel because it was pet friendly. I can not stress how great Vivian, Nellie, Garrett, Serena and Cassi were to us; if we needed anything such as towels, recommendation on eating places, address billing issues etc these 5 were quick to assist us. Jerry was also great to us; if we had issues with our room or any of our appliances in the room he was in top of it. The hotel itself was a decent hotel; the pool was down during our stay which was a bummer and the guest dryer was broken for a few weeks but we were able to use the hotel laundry facility till the dryer was fixed. The hotel did have some of their workers that lives there and we had repeated issues with one in particular from her. On stop comments towards us and her sudden outburst of cussing and she didn't care who was around. I will give Jen(GM) credit she did address the issues with her and this particular worker would do great for several days but it never lasted long and she basically didn't respect Jen and her position ( in our opinion) because she keep having these outburst and making comments toward us even after Jen has several conversations with us. It became so bad that Jen had to come back to the hotel at night time to address these issues with her. This particular worker also had issues and outbursts with her co-workers as well. Although this particular worker worked the laundry area she had her outburst and issues out in the opening in front of the guest; she had no filter!!! I guess she thought she was irreplaceable and considering the issues we had with her I guess she was right. We also had an with the head of housekeeping because someone called children services on her daughter and because we socialized with the front desk we automatically got blamed for during this and at first she was cussing and making comments about the situation and then the day children services took her grandchildren she came to me and threatened me by saying I better not find out you had something to do with this; Jen did have two talks with this worker and after the 2nd time I didn't have anymore issues with her. At times certain floors smelled of marijuana and this was not only guests but came from some of the workers that lived there as well. We witnessed the housekeepers along with laundry smoking pot outside as well as heard them talking about putting their tip money together to buy marijuana and having someone by the name of Melissa delivery it to them there at the hotel. The hotel had several ppl cars broken into there, Maryland State Police and swat team show up at the hotel as well as children services for the laundry girl and MD state police and Cecil County Sheriff's office showed up there cause a guest had a warrant on him; the guest was refusing to come out but finally came out after law enforcement threatened to bring K-9 in; the guest returned later and because his room was paid for the week they let him stay...We personally thought the hotel would have refunded the remaining days to him and not let him stay there. I realize some things can't be changed or prevented but how ppl react could make a big difference. If we didn't have the issues we had with some of the staff and some of the things we seen or heard then this would be an excellent hotel. To get a better rating I would do random drug testing and if they failed then they don't have a job, if they have a criminal record within the last 2 years then they shouldn't be employed there especially if they have access to the guests room, if having confortations/issues with the guests then 1st time should be a talk by the GM, 2nd time should be 3 days off without pay and they can't stay or come to hotel during the 3 days and if there is a 3rd time then...

We were extremely dissatisfied with this stay. We were returning guests and have always been pleased in the past. However, this will be our last stay at this location. We were awaken at 12:30 at night by the strong smell of cigarette smoke within our room. When we called to alert the front desk, we were informed that there was no other room availability (when we had checked in 4 hours earlier, there were still a variety of rooms available to book online) and that there was nothing she could do. She suggested she would try to find febreeze to help the odor. After being placed on hold, she returned saying she couldn't find the febreeze and that housekeeping must have it. She apologized. That was it, nothing else was offered. I asked for any kind of discount on the cost or something to compensate for not being able to sleep in the room, I was offered a $15 reduction on the bill. I asked if the room across the hall was a smoking room and mentioned that their door was propped open and perhaps the smell was coming from there. She told me that "no that's not a smoking room and they don't smoke in the room anyway". Shortly after hanging up, the door across the hall was slammed shut. Seemed quite convenient. We turned the AC to high and stuffed every towel and blanket around the visible openings around the perimeter of the door to try and reduce the entry of the smoke smell and get some level of sleep. Overall we were very unhappy with the lack of concern and care expressed...
