Stayed here for the first time and the experience was not that good!
When I booked the room, I put a request to assign a room with a walk-in shower and a microwave oven. I knew that room does not come with microwave but most of the time it has been accommodated at all the other hotels/motels, per my past experience, if put in as a prior request.
Unfortunately, at this hotel, at the time of checking in I realized that nobody has paid attention to my request. What is the point of putting requests if hotel/staff are not even going to look at it? When I pressed on about the microwave then was told that it will be accommodated if there is one available. Few hours left and neither any body showed up with the microwave nor got any call that there is no microwave available!
I went downstairs to find out what's going on and this time there were different staff at the front desk. It was clear that new staff had no idea what I was talking about. I guess person who was supposed to take care of my issue just left without doing anything.
Continue about poor customer service from the check-in staff, I was never told anything about the pool, fitness center, computers in the lobby along with the printer, shuttle service, pamphlets that list items that can be borrowed/buy etc., and the WiFi. I have to ask about the WiFi information and only then was told about it. In addition, I was told breakfast time is from 6-9 Am, however, the information card in the room has it from 6-10 Am! Who to believe, check-in staff or the information card?
At the time of check in, I gave tax exemption form and reminded check-in lady that there should not be any tax in my total at the end. She took the form and told me to not worry about it. Unfortunately, at the time of checking out, even though same lady who took the form initially, was about to charge full tax until I stopped and reminded her about the tax exemption form.
I had some maintenance issues in my room as well. Desk lamp was not working and upon looking at it, it turns out that the outlet lamp was plugged into was not working. In addition, light behind restroom mirror was fused and did not work. When the room is given to the next guest, how come it is not checked thoroughly to make sure everything is working or not? Why it is next guest's job, to instead of enjoying their stay, they have to encounter issues and report to get it fixed? This is simply ridiculous!
Inside the information card that I found in the room, there was something mentioned about the Express checkout. It was stated that there will be an invoice underneath my door before the day of check out. I can then simply use that invoice and use Express checkout. Unfortunately, there was no invoice underneath my door before my check out day for whatever reasons. If this policy is not followed at this hotel then why incorrect information is listed on the card?
Internet in the hotel during my stay, on average, was slow. Such a big name hotel but slow internet really doesn't make any sense.
There were other customer service issues also and some invaluable suggestions that I passed to the management. In response, all I got was a lame sorry email. Other hotel, even a motel, would have reimbursed me with some kind of credit for all the inconveniences and the suggestions I have provided.
I will definitely look some where...
Read moreI spent two full days deep-diving into hotels around the DFW area, and let me tell you—some of those reviews were downright terrifying. Even Hyatt Place DFW, which looked promising at first glance, had a few red flags when you read between the lines. Still, I decided to take the risk. My past hotel experiences haven’t exactly been lucky, but this one was close to the airport and offered a scheduled shuttle—one that doesn’t just make random hourly loops in hopes you'll catch it.||||I arrived around 9:30 p.m. on a Thursday and checked in with Angela, who was an absolute delight. She made me feel genuinely seen and heard. I had booked through a slightly sketchy third-party site, and when I arrived, there were no standard King rooms available on the lower floors. Angela upgraded me to the highest floor (6th), and I couldn't have been happier.||||The room was beautiful; well laid out and clean. It had a mini fridge (no microwave), but I was able to use the microwave in the breakfast/bar area later that night. The bathroom was modern and spacious, though travelers should note the sliding frosted glass door doesn’t offer much privacy. The furniture was in great condition, and the bed was incredibly soft and comfortable, classic pillow-top. The blackout curtains did their job, and despite being right by the airport, the room was surprisingly quiet.||||I also appreciated the large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash with tamper-proof tops.||||Now, the breakfast buffet...absolutely delicious. Several toast and bagel options, a DIY breakfast burrito bar with eggs, chicken sausage, and potatoes, plus pancakes and French toast sticks. The yogurt bar had some of the freshest fruit I’ve ever had (welcome to Texas, folks!), and the oatmeal came with a variety of toppings, including almonds. They also had standard cereal options, but what really surprised me was the juice. It actually tasted like juice, not that watered-down cardboard stuff you usually get with a free hotel breakfast.||||The shuttle was punctual. 10 a.m. on the dot, and the driver was friendly and helpful, even assisting with loading and unloading bags.||||Honestly, I’m blown away. This is the only place I’ll stay when visiting Dallas (which I do about every three months). I hope this review saves someone the hours I wasted second-guessing myself. Hyatt Place DFW was my first instinct, and I wish I had just trusted my gut.||||One last tip: if you stay here, aim for a higher floor. Based on my experience and some of the reviews I read, it might make all the...
Read moreThis is my second time staying at a Hyatt Place. My first experience was very bad so I thought I'd give them another try. Unfortunately, this second chance did not change my mind about the brand--not a place I'd stay again.
This property is inside the DFW airport property on the far south side. Terminals A+B are a 10-15 minute drive depending on traffic. The building is relatively new so things were clean and up-to-date. However, unlike older Hyatt Place properties, the room was a bed with a sitting area, desk, dresser, and closet/hutch instead of a 1-bedroom suite or "studio" with a kitchenette and divider between the sleeping and sitting areas. There was a mini-fridge but no microwave. What the room did have is Hyatt promotional adverts at every turn. This unwanted waste of paper was EVERYWHERE: bathroom sink, bathroom hooks, desk (2), end table, and nightstand. One advert promo is sufficient, I am not paying to be subjected to advertisements in every room, on every surface. While parking is free, there appeared to be no security.
A bigger downside is the lack of service and attitude of staff. Despite the price-point, there is nobody to assist with luggage (2 carts available), only one person to check people in/out. Check-out time is 12 noon EXACTLY. They begin calling your room at 12:05pm [while you are frantically trying to finish your shower because your running behind]. Requesting extra time (until 1pm) is refused. After another 15 minutes the phone starts ringing again, followed by a knock from Housekeeping. Finally, at 12:50pm, SECURITY shows up to hurry me along and inform me I will be charged $25 if not out by 1pm. OK, then let me hurry and finish! I get down to the front desk at 1:02pm. The desk clerk has already charged my card and printed a receipt. Really? for 2 minutes, even after I had requested extra time, despite the hotel being only half full, despite all those ads begging me to become a member, despite me checking-in after midnight, you are going to charge me a late fee!?
YES, Hyatt Place charges a late fee after harassing you for being late just like Motel 6, Super 8, and ExtendedStay. For the record, aLoft, SpringHill Suites, TownPlace Suites, and DoubleTree hotels, which are all at a similar price-point to Hyatt Place, do NOT charge a fee or treat you rudely for a late check-out at 1p. I highly recommend choosing one of these brands instead of...
