Reserved the room 2 weeks in advance on the Wyndham app. Card was charged for the full amount prior to arrival. Got there before 8pm and filled out the usual paperwork. We were assigned room 223. Nice, large room with new furniture, had a decent night. Left to visit Lost Island the next morning and returned about 10pm to find the DND sign gone and the keys not working. I assured my son that they probably didn't program them for the correct stay and we returned to the front desk. The same woman who checked us in the night before (Deb) accused us of not paying and said they didn't have any information on file for us. They had removed all of our personal items (thrown in a trash bag beind the desk) while we were gone and rented our room to someone else. We provided the evidence we had (reservation in the app, time-stamped photos of the room, etc) and then she said she recognized me but they still didn't have any paperwork on file. She continued to argue (said that she tried calling me and that my phone was disconnected...not sure where she got the number since they "didn't have any record of us being there" and there was nothing wrong with my phone. She called it and it went to voicemail because it was after 10pm by then and the DND was on. Then another young woman showed up (Jordyn) and said that she wrote us up as a no show and that we were supposed to be in room 224 but weren't checked in there. We gathered our things and went to room 224 (since it was vacant), which was considerably smaller. I've never felt so violated as we sorted through our things and realized that someone had gone through my son's wallet and we were missing a few things (a couple bottles of water, my map of our trip and creamer for my coffee in the morning... We went back down to the front desk and Deb continued to argue with us (about the room size and that they had 2 people present when they removed our belongings, etc). We asked if there was anyone higher up we could talk to and she said no. Told us the manager would be in at 3pm the next day and she would have her call us. We didn't get much sleep (as you can imagine) and packed up early the next morning to leave. When we went to return the room keys the manager (Krystle) was at the desk. She made a face when she saw the room number on the envelope and told us that what happened was against all the rules and that she should have been called, etc. She confirmed that 224 was about 100-150 square feet smaller than 223, told us they were having an employee meeting on Tuesday and that it would be addressed and never should have happened. She said that she would talk to the owner and he would call me Monday morning. Another woman (Krista) called at 11:53am Monday and contradicted everything that Krystle had told us. She said that Krystle had been called and that she authorized the removal of our things. At this point I can't believe any of them because they all gave different stories and the only one that didn't argue with us was Krystle. Now I don't even know if she was being truthful. What I do know is that my son and I have travelled all over the country and stayed overnight at probably 50 hotels (of several chains) and never had anything like this happen or been treated so badly. My trust and sense of security has been shattered and I don't know if I will ever get it back. Thanks, Days Inn...
Read moreI made a reservation over the phone for one bed for one night. Was asked what brought us to town and we told them for a slowpitch softball tournament. When we arrived to check in we were told if we wanted to we could get the room for two nights since we didn't know how late we were playing and that if we didn't need to stay the 2nd day that it wouldn't be a problem for them to waive the fee for the 2nd night. Well we finished the tournament by 1PM went back to the hotel to pack our stuff and head home stopped at the front desk to let them know and they told me they couldn't refund me the money for the 2nd night because all of their housekeepers were gone and that the bedsheets needed to be changed if we didn't stay. Then when we walk around the corner back to our room we see the housekeeper with her cart. I turned around and asked the lady at the front desk why she lied and she changed her story to the housekeeper not being allowed to go back to a room that was already done! We called the manager for a 2nd time and she lied about whose decision it was saying it wasn't her call to refund me the money back. We asked whose it was then so we could speak to them about the issue then she said she had the final say. The whole time they were all lying to us and making up excuses because they were too lazy to do their jobs. Not to mention the lady at the front counter as well as the housekeeper were both outside smoking a cigarette glaring at us as we pulled out of the parking lot. Worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. You should feel that your appreciated where you stay. Would not recommend this location to anyone. I'd suggest going to waterloo to...
Read moreMy family and I stayed in this hotel for an event we were attending in Cedar Rapids(45 minute drive) due to all of the hotels there being sold out. I'd like to say I like this hotel. The rooms were very clean and the beds were cozy. Yes, the bathrooms were small, but you're not living in luxury here. The beds were unexpectedly comfortable, being among the best I've slept on in a hotel, even some more expensive than this. The rooms and hallways smelled good, and we're upkept. Our biggest complaints with this hotel was the soundproofing and the front desk workers. First of all, with the soundproofing issue, you could literally hear every word, footstep, and breath from the room next to you, its almost as if there are no walls at all. It was to the point where it sounded like there were even people above us though we stayed on the top(2nd) floor. Thankfully, the neighbors went to bed early. Also, the rooming situation could have been better. We were placed right next to other people though there was only a few staying in the hotel. Second the front desk employees weren't so polite. Either they'd be on their phones, or behind the desk on their computer. They wouldn't even acknowledge you if you'd walk past... Except for the manager. In conclusion, I'd stay here again if I had to, and that some of these problems could be easily fixed. I know there's no elevator, but at least get Automatic doors if your front desk employees are just going to watch you struggle with your luggage going...
